Rarely have Arabic-dubbed cartoons receive all the praise they deserve: More than a simple work of translation from their original Japanese version, they were also a perfect educational vehicle to improve العربيـــــــــــــــة الفُصحَـــــــــى (Classical Arabic) for at least two generations of kids and young adults, from Dubai to Casablanca!

The Arabic Blog is therefore attempting to repair this little injustice by occasionally introducing you to the all-time “big hits” of Arabic animes…

In MSA, namely Modern Standard Arabic, هَزِيــــــــــــــــــــمُ الرَّعْـــــــــــــد stands for “the roll of thunder“; its “rumble” or “rumbling sound.”

Figuratively, the word “هَزِيــــــــــــــــــــمُ” by itself it can refer to a person who is “on the run“, a “fugitive.” Be sure not to confuse it with the other Arabic word “هَزِيــــــــــــــــــــمة“, which means “defeat.”
