In this post, I present an exercise that aims to revise your information about the case marking system (الإعراب).

Case marking is the system by which special endings are added to words to mark their function or position in the sentence. Now, read the text below and add the appropriate ending to the underlined words. Do not just guess the vowel, but also try to explain why you chose that particular ending.

تعتبر دمشق من أقدم المدن المأهولة في العالم. ويعود تاريخ بناء هذه المدينة إلى ما بين الألف السادس والخامس قبل الميلاد، وتمتاز بعمارتها الجميلة التي تضم بيوتاً وحمامات وجوامع ومدارس. تضم دمشق عشرة من الأبواب. كما تضم مدينة دمشق مساجد قديمة. وتوجد في دمشق أسواق كبيرة مثل: سوق الحميدية، الذي يعتبر من أكثر المناطق شهرة. وسوق البزورية: وهو سوق واسع للتوابل والبهارات والمواد الغذائية، وسوق الحرير، الذي تباع فيه الأقمشة المتنوعة والعطور، وسوق مدحت باشا ويسمى أيضاً (السوق الطويل)، ويشتهر بالمنسوجات المحلية.
