Dawood pasha meatballs Posted by on Mar 19, 2013 in Culture

In this post, I give you the recipe of an easy and delicious meaty dish. It is called Dawood Pasha Kufta (كفتة داوود باشا). It was named after Dawood Pasha, as it is said that he punished a cook who made a mistake in the recipe. It is easy to make and very nice.

You will need the following ingredients.

½ a kilo minced meat (لحم مفروم)

One chopped onion (بصل مفري)

Salt and pepper (ملح وفلفل)

Garlic  (ثوم)

Meat spices (توابل لحم)

Chopped tomatoes and tomato juice (عصير طماطم)

Oil (زيت)

Preparation

Add the minced meat, chopped onion, spices, salt and pepper and mix them all well.

Make meatballs and cook them. They can either be cooked in the oven, or fried as required.

Chop the garlic and fry it in a little bit of oil

Add the tomatoes and bring to boil.

After a few minutes, add the meat balls and bring to boil.

Serve with rice!

I read a funny story about this dish. It is said that in the old days, Egyptians used to put a silver ring in the sauce and when the kufta is served, the lucky person will find it in his dish!
