ظاهرة الطلاق في المجتمعات العربية تسجل ارتفاعاً قياسياً خلال الأعوام الأخيرة، فقد أكدت إحصاءات حديثة أن الأسر العربية في خطر مع تزايد حالات الطلاق خلال عامي 2012 و2013. ففي مصر، ذكرت تقارير جهاز التعبئة والإحصاء أنه تم خلال العام الماضي 70 ألف طلاق، أكثر من نصف حالات الطلاق زيجات لم تمر عليها عشر سنوات. فوفق إحصائية حديثة في مصر، تقع عشر حالات طلاق في الساعة، مما يعني وقوع حالة طلاق كل ست دقائق. هذا يعني مؤشراً خطيراً على تراجع النظام الأسري في المجتمعات العربية ويطرح تساؤلاً عن أسباب ارتفاع معدلات الطلاق في السنوات الأخيرة بهذه الصورة الكبيرة، خصوصاً وأن عدداً كبيراً من حالات الطلاق يقع في السنة الأولى من الزواج.
