In this post, I present a listening comprehension exercise in Arabic. Listen to the news item and then answer the questions that follow using the given vocabulary.

Useful vocabulary:

حذر = warned

منظمة العمل الدولية = International Labor Organization

ارتفاع = increase

معدل = rate

البطالة = unemployment

الفئات العمرية = age groups

عبء – burden

مواجهة = facing

تباطؤ = slow

قاتم = grim

سوق العمل = labor market

 

Questions:

1-   What did the International Labor Organization warn of?

2-   What is the average unemployment rate in the Middle East?

3-   Which groups are worst affected by the problem of unemployment in the Middle East?

4-   What is the rate of unemployment among the youth in the Middle East?

5-   Why does the situation remain grim or unpromising in the Middle East?

6-   In which countries is unemployment among women is at its highest levels?
