The Most Populated Cities in the Arab World Posted by on Jul 23, 2016 in Arabic Language

Marhaba! Can you imagine that about 8 billion people live on Earth? Think about it for a moment. It’s quite a number! However, new humans make it to our world and others leave to another place. Speaking of numbers and human beings, my post today is about the most populated Arab cities. If you follow our Facebook Page, you will see that every week our ‘Friday Escape’ is to a new destination in the Arab world. For the last few months, the ‘Friday Escapes’ were to the largest cities in the Arab world, defined simply as the most populated. The list of these cities is over 75!

Today, I will provide you with the first part of these cities. In the coming weeks, I will provide you with the rest. I will begin listing them from the most to the least populated. As always, I have translated and transliterated the city names so that you can use them when writing and/or speaking Arabic.

About the Author: jesa

Salam everyone! Born as an American to two originally Arab parents, I have been raised and have spent most of my life in Beirut, Lebanon. I have lived my good times and my bad times in Beirut. I was but a young child when I had to learn to share my toys and food with others as we hid from bombs and fighting during the Lebanese Civil War. I feel my connection to Arabic as both a language and culture is severing and so it is with you, my readers and fellow Arabic lovers, and through you that I wish to reestablish this connection by creating one for you.
