With 48 hours in Xi’an, you can spend a day exploring the city and use the other to take a trip out to the Huaqing Hot Springs and Terracotta Warriors.

A great day in Xi'an.

A great day in Xi’an.

On the first day, try the city’s local specialty – a lamb stew with chopped bread (羊肉泡馍 – yáng ròu pào mó). Then take a walk on the City Wall (城墙 – chéng qiáng), where you just might be lucky enough to catch a Lantern Festival. Wind down with a stroll in the Muslim Quarter (回民街 – huí mín jiē).
