C’est la Danse des Canards, Tecktonik Style! Posted by on Oct 18, 2010 in Music, Vocabulary

After the latest parodies of David Guetta by les Guignols de l’Info“, who, pour dire le moins (to say the least), have not spared him at all in their latest episodes, and the class action about to be launched against him by many DJ ducks (read “ducklass action“) accusing him of outright plagiat (plagiarism), one can already imagine him finishing his days working part-time shifts at some random Club Med, or as un moniteur d’une colonie de vacances (a Summer camp counselor), coming up with “catchy” remixes of songs—such as the hit “C’est la danse des canards” (literally, “It’s the ducks song”)!

Whether or not this song happens to be the main inspiration behind Guetta’s hit-album “Duck Me, I’m Famousreste à prouver (remains to be proven) by the expert “de-ducktion” of les spécialistes des droits d’auteur (copyrights specialists), one fact is sure, it’s a worldwide famous song.

C’est la danse des canards—Tecktonik Style !
(See the previous posts: “Yelle if you love Fridays!” and “YELLEtuetête) if you like “le FRI€” the TTC way)

In English, the song is not about les canards (ducks), but rather about les poulets (chickens)—It’s called “The Chicken Dance.”

The most obvious reason why this song is famous in so many languages besides French is the fact that it emerged il y a un demi-siècle (half a century ago) in a country that is located at the croisement de chemins (crossroads) of many European countries and languages: C’est la Suisse (Switzerland)!  Surrounded by French à l’ouest (west), l’allemand (German) au nord et à l’est (on the north and the east), and l’italien au sud (on the south), all these languages enjoy an official status there.

Enfin (finally), here are les paroles (lyrics) of the French version (to compare with the other languages also included in this video):

C’est la danse des Canards
Qui en sortant de la mare
Se secouent le bas des reins
Et font coin-coin
Fait’s comme les petits canards
Et pour que tout l’monde se marre
Remuez le popotin
En f’sant coin-coin
A présent claquez du bec
En secouant vos plumes, avec
Avec beaucoup plus d’entrain
Et des coin-coin
Allez mettez-en un coup
Maintenant pliez les g’noux
Redressez-vous

Tournez c’est la fête
Bras dessus-dessous
Comm’ des girouettes
C’est super chouette
C’est extra-fou…

C’est la danse des canards
Les gamins comme les loubards
Vont danser ce gai refrain
Dans tous les coins
Ne soyez pas en retard
Car la danse des canards
C’est le tube de demain

Coin-coin, coin-coin
Il suffit d’fermer le bec
En mettant ses plumes au sec
Pliez les genoux c’est bien
Et faites coin-coin
Ca y est vous avez compris
Attention c’n’est pas fini
Nous allons jusqu’au matin
Faire des coin-coin

Tournez c’est la fête
Bras dessus-dessous
Comm’ des girouettes
C’est super chouette
C’est extra-fou…

C’est la danse des canards
Qui en sortant de la mare
Se secouent le bas des reins
Et font coin-coin
A présent claquez du bec
En secouant vos plumes avec
Avec beaucoup d’entrain
Et des coin-coin
C’est la danse des canards
C’est dément et c’est bizarre
C’est terribilos comm’ tout
C’est dingue, c’est tout
Allez mettez-en un coup
On s’amus’ comm’ des p’tits fous
Maintenant pliez les g’noux
Redressez-vous…

Tournez c’est la fête
Bras dessus-dessous

Coin-coin coin-coin
