“La Terre” Turns Turns Turns with a True Troubadour!

You will love two things about today’s post in the French Blog:

First, the totally refreshing song called “Le Troubadour” by a French group you will be very pleased to meet.
Second, make sure you don’t choke of laughing when watching -encore- the boy who didn’t steal his honorific title of “ze craziest Frenchman on ze planet—and who is by all applicable standards a latter-day Troubadour!
:)

Le Troubadour” by “HK & Les Saltimbanks”, who are probably not too angry with Rémi for “borrowing” their song to feature it on his crazy video below

And now enters Rémi Gaillard in “The Minstrel”

Notice: This is a bit of an improper translation for which Monsieur Gaillard ought to be forgiven: “les ménestrels” (“the minstrels”) were technically the artists who eventually were replaced by the troubadours—but then again, what can you not forgive this crazy French dude!

Je n’suis qu’un troubadour

I ain’t nothing but a Troubadour

I entertain my world but the world isn’t doing too well

And Earth turns turns turns turns out not right, but I can’t do a thing about that

Rien d’plus qu’un troubadour

Nothing more than a troubadour

I entertain my world but the world is in bad shape

My images beat beat beat beat around the bush of this world in need of a makeover

Le monde va mal je m’en amuse

The world’s in bad shape but I’m having fun about that

Insolent, impertinent

Sassy, cheeky

Quand nos dicateurs abusent

When our dictators cross the line

I write a song, it makes people laugh

The world’s in a bad shape, but what can I do about that?

Avec mes coups de gueule, mes calembours

With my rants, my puns

Ni politicien, ni militaitre

Neither a politician not a military

Je n’suis qu’un troubadour

I ain’t nothing but a troubadour

Anyway, this world ain’t mine

I write songs to escape this Earth

Instead of living today, I’d rather

Chanter en attendant demain

Sing while waiting for tomorrow

Si je me mets à chanter l’amour

If I get into singing about love

On me dit “Comment tu oses?”

I am told “How dare you?”

Souffler les pétales d’une rose

Blowing the petals of a rose

Whereas there’s in this world all those dead people

Si je me mets à chanter la guerre

If I get into singing about war

Aux armes citoyens

To arms, citizens

Tenant des solgans révolutionnaires

Holding revolutionary slogans

On sait comment ça s’termine à la fin

We know how it can end up

And Earth turns turns turns turns, and Earth turns turns turns out not right
