On Sunday, Laura and Max went ice skating on the Weihnachtsmarkt. Then, Max suddenly has a surprise for Laura…

Kapitel 12
Nach etlichen Runden um den Tannenbaum ist es Zeit, findet Max.
»Laura, bleibe bitte kurz stehen!«
Laura hält an und schaut ihn an.
»Was ist denn?«
Max zieht den Reißverschluss seiner Jacke ein Stück runter und holt die Rose aus seiner Jackentasche. Die Rose hat es überraschenderweise heil überstanden.
»Die ist für dich.«
»Max! Das ist so süß!« Laura strahlt. Sie umarmt ihn und gibt ihm einen Kuss auf die Wange.
»Wollen wir einen Glühwein trinken?« fragt Max.
»Gern! Das Eislaufen hat mich durstig gemacht!«
Nach einem gefühlt ewigen Marsch durch die riesige Menschenmasse finden Laura und Max einen Glühweinstand mit einem freien Stehtisch.
Kurz danach wärmen sie ihre kalten Hände an den heißen Glühwein. Die Rose und zwei Paar Handschuhe liegen auf dem Stehtisch.
»Wir sollten öfter Eislaufen«, meint Laura.
»Ich bin ganz deiner Meinung«, nickt Max.
Zusammen schlürfen sie ihren Glühwein.
»Das tut gut! Herrlich, Glühwein auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt…« seufzt Max erleichtert. Laura nickt. 
»Wie kommt es, dass du so gut laufen kannst?« fragt Max.
»Danke! Viel Übung ist der Grund, denke ich. Ich laufe im Sommer immer Rollschuh, und im Winter ist Eislaufen eine gute Alternative.«
 
Als der Glühwein ausgetrunken ist, verabschieden sie sich.
»Ich hatte echt einen schönen Abend, Max. Wollen wir das bald wieder machen?«
»Ja, es war echt wunderbar! Sehr gern, wie wär’s nächste Woche?«
Laura lächelt. »Klar!«
Sie dreht sich um und geht. Nach ein paar Schritten dreht sie sich noch mal um und winkt, lächelnd. Max winkt zurück. Er kann es kaum glauben. Sie mag ihn! Er ist überglücklich!
Da fällt ihm plötzlich ein, er muss noch was erledigen…

THE TRANSLATION

Chapter 12
After several laps around the fir tree it is time, Max thinks.
“Laura, please stop for a second!”
Laura stops and looks at him.
“What’s up?”
Max pulls down the zipper of his jacket a bit and takes the rose out of his jacket pocket. Surprisingly, the rose survived in one piece.
“This is for you.”
“Max! That is so sweet!” Laura smiles. She hugs him and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
“Shall we drink a Glühwein (pronounced “gluvine”, mulled wine)?” Max asks.
“Gladly! The ice skating made me thirsty!”
After a perceived eternal march through the enormous crowd of people, Laura and Max find a Glühwein stand with a free bar table.
Shortly afterwards they warm their cold hands on the hot Glühwein. The rose and two pairs of gloves lie on the bar table.
“We should go ice skating more often,” Laura says.
“I couldn’t agree more,” Max nods.
Together they sip their Glühwein.
“That feels good. Delicious, Glühwein on the Christmas market…” Max sighs relieved. Laura nods.
“How come that you can skate so well?” Max asks.
“Thanks! A lot of practice is the reason, I think. I always roller-skate in the summer, and in the Winter, ice skating is a good alternative.”

When the Glühwein is finished, they say farewell.
“I really had a nice evening, Max. Shall we do this again soon?”
“Yes, it really was wonderful! I’d love to, how about next week?”
Laura smiles. “Sure!”
She turns around and leaves. After a few steps she turns around again and waves, smiling. Max waves back. He can barely believe it. She likes him! He is overjoyed!
Suddenly, it comes to his mind, he still has to do something…
