ορίζοντας (ο):horizon
Υπάρχει ελπίδα στον ορίζοντα για τους ασθενείς./ There is hope on the horizon for the patients.
πλοηγός (ο): navigator, GPS. (The word GPS is very commonly used in Greek).
Βρήκαν στη διεύθυνση στον πλοηγό./ They found the adress on the GPS.
πυξίδα (η):compass
Η πυξίδα δείχνει πάντα το Βορρά./ The compass always points to North.
προσανατολισμός (ο):orientation
Καθώς περπατούσε στο δάσος έχασε τον προσανατολισμό του./ While he was walking in the woods he lost his orientation (lit).
προσανατολίζομαι:to orientate
Δεν μπορούσε να προσανατολιστεί στην ομίχλη./ She could not orientate herself in the fog.
χάρτης (ο):map
Δεν είχαν χάρτη και έχασαν το δρόμο τους./ They didn’t have a map and they lost their way.
Βορράς (Β): North
Ο Πολικός Αστέρας λέγεται και Αστέρι του Βορρά. / Polaris is also called North Star.
Νότος (Ν): South
Όταν το δεξί μας χέρι δείχνει την Ανατολή, ο Νότος είναι πίσω μας./ When our right hand points to the East, the South is behind us.
Ανατολή (Α): East
Η Ντόροθυ σκόρωσε την Κακιά Μάγισσα της Ανατολής./ Dorothy killed the Wicked Witch of the East.
Δύση (Δ): West
Ο ήλιος βασιλεύει στη δύση./ The sun sets in the west.

Βόρειος-α-ο:Northern
Η Λήμνος βρίσκεται στο Βόρειο Αιγαίο./ Lemnos is located in the North Aegean.
Νότιος-α-ο:Southern
Η Κρήτη είναι στη Νότια Ελλάδα./ Crete is located in Southern Greece.
Ανατολικός-η-ο:Eastern
Υπάρχουν ωραία βουνά στην Ανατoλική Μακεδονία./ Τhere are nice mountains in Eastern Macedonia.
Δυτικός-η-ο:Western
Θα βρέξει στη Δυτική Ελλάδα. / It will rain in Western Greece.
Βορειοανατολικός-η-ο:Northeastern
Η χιονοθύελλα “Τζούνο” χτύπησε τις βορειοανατολικές πολιτείες./ Snowstorm “Juno” hit the Northeastern states.
Βορειοδυτικός-η-ο:Northwestern
Το Όρεγκον είναι Βορειοδυτική πολιτεία./ Oregon is a Northwestern State.
Νοτιοανατολικός-η-ο:Southeastern
Η Σιγκαπούρη είναι το πιο ανεπτυγμένο κράτος της Νοτιοανατολικής Ασίας.
Singapore is the most developped country in Southern Asia.
Νοτιοδυτικός-η-ο:Southwestern
Η Ρόδος είναι ένα νησί του νοτιοδυτικού Αιγαίου./ Rhodes is an island located in Southwestern Aegean.

Επίρρήματα (adverbs)
Βόρεια: North (to the North)
Θα πρέπει να πάτε βόρεια για να βρείτε την πόλη που ψάχνετε./ You will have to go North to find the city you are looking for.
Νότια: South
Ο Καναδάς συνοδεύει με τις ΗΠΑ στα νότια./ Canada borders USA to the South.
Ανατολικά: East
Το “Ανατολικά της Εδέμ” είναι ένα γνωστό μυθιστόρημα του Τζον Στάινμπεκ.
“East of Eden” is a famous novel by John Steinbeck.
Δυτικά:West
Η Ελλάδα βρέχεται δυτικά από το Ιόνιο πέλαγος./ Greece is surrounded by the Ionian Sea to the west.
Βορειοανατολικά: Northeast
Ο σεισμός είχε επίκεντρο 38 χιλιόμετρα βορειοανατολικά της Αθήνας.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 38 klm northeast of Athens.
Βορειοδυτικά:Το πάρκο βρίσκεται στα βορειοδυτικά της πόλης./ The park is located northwest of the city.
Νοτιοανατολικά:Southeast
Το ακρωτήρι του Σουνίου βρίσκεται νοτιοανατολικά της Αθήνας./ Cape Sounio is located northeast of Athens.
Νοτιοδυτικά:Southwest
Αναμένονται καταιγίδες στα νοτιοδυτικά./ Storms are expected southwest (lit).
