Let me show you some of the prominent historical sites in the Delhi. These historical sites consists of ancient structures as well as the new world structures.

1. Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar (कुतब मीनार) is the tallest free-standing stone tower in the world and the tallest minaret in India with a height of 72.5 meters (237.8 ft). It is constructed with red sandstone and marble.It was constructed on the order of Qutb-ud-din Aibak in 1199 A.D and one of early prominent Indo-Islamic architecture. On the its site, there are several other ancient and medieval structures and ruins including Iron Piller from Indian’s greatest Emperor, Asoka.

2. Iron Pillar
Iron Pillar (लौह स्तंभ) of Delhi, a wonder in metallurgical world. This 7m (23 ft) iron structure was erected on the order of Chandragupta Vikramaditya (ca. 375–413 BC) from the Gupta Empire. There is a famous myth that whoever can encircle this iron piller with both arms and wish something, will come true. It is notable for the composition of the metals and elements as this pillar has withstand the times of over two thousands year but still has no sign of corrosion.

3. Red Fort
Red Fort (लाल क़िला, Lal Kila) is a beautiful fort complex situated in the old Delhi area. This fort complex was constructed on the order of Shan Jahan, the Mughal emperor who also ordered construction of Taj Mahal. This fort is a 17th century structure, has served as resident for the Mughal emperors and site of power until 1857. In 2007, it is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

4. India Gate
India Gate (इंडिया गेट) is the monument that remind of Arc de Triophe in Paris. It is located in the center of New Delhi, capital of India. It was inspired by the before-said monument in Paris and was built in 1931. It was build as a memorial to commemorates the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War I and third Anglo-Afgan war.

5. Humayun’s Tomb
Humayun’s tomb (हुमायूँ का मक़बरा, Humayun ka Maqbara) is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. It is also located in New Delhi. This tomb was constructed in 1562 AD on the order of emperor’s wife. This tomb has a great combination of the tomb structure and beautiful garden. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.

6. Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid (जामा मस्जिद) of Delhi is located in the old Delhi and was constructed on the order of Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan in 1644 AD, who also built the world-famous Taj Mahal. It was completed in the year 1658 AD. This is principal mosque in Delhi and largest mosque in India. The mosque is about 8058 m long and 549 m wide and around 25,000 people can pray at the same time.
