Mountains (पर्वतParvat) are the wonders of nature (प्रकृतिPrakrati) and many of you appreciate the hobby of mountain trekking (चढ़ाईChadhahi). The great feeling when comes when you are on the highest terrain is something that you just cannot describe in the words.

The atmosphere (वातावरणVaataavaran) for the mountain trekking in India is very favorably as India share a large part of Himalaya. The word, हिमालय (Himalaya) is made of two Sanskrit words which are हिम (Him – Snow) and आलय (Aalaya – Place). Himalaya is the biggest and highest mountain range in the world. The highest mountain peak (चोटीChoti) in India which is shared with Nepal, Kanchenjunga, is 8,586 meter from sea level. Many others peaks are over 7,500 meters. These incredibly high peaks offer several challenges to a mountain trekker.

Why not just show you some of the places or mountain ranges (श्रृंखलाSrankhala) which are often visited by passionate mountain trekkers. Maybe some day you will visit some of the beautiful places .

1. लद्दाख़ (Ladakh)
Ladakh is a place which is located in the North Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is very sparsely populated place which could be a great advantage to those who want a peaceful experience (अनुभावAnubhaav) to Himalayan visit. Some of the place (स्थानSthaan) worth checking out are Stok Circuit, Markha Valley, Kanhi La & Shila Gorge, Remote Zanskar, Singge La & Lamayuru and Phugtal Gompa & Shingo La etc.

2. हिमाचल प्रदेश (Himachal Pradesh)
Himachal Pradesh is a state in the north India which border with Nepal and China. This state (राज्यRajya) is famous for its beautiful valleys, diverse fauna and flora and mountain ranges. The places worth visiting are Jagatsukh to Hampta Pass, Lahaul, Chandrakani Pass & Malana, Bara Bhangal, Pin Parvati Pass and Indrahar Pass etc.

3. उत्तराखण्ड (Uttarakhand)
Uttarakhand which was formerly known as Uttaranchal is a state in the northern part of India. The state is full of mountain ranges and splendid valleys. Some of the places to for trekkers to visits are Pubin Pass to Kinnaur, Dodo Tal to Yamunotri, Source of Ganges, Hem Kund, Valley of the flowers, Kuari Pass and Pindari Glacier etc.

4. दार्जलिंग (Darjeeling)
Darjeeling is beautiful Himalayan city in the east Indian state of West Bengal. This city has a partially autonomous status. This city is not only famous for some of the highest mountain ranges in the world but also for the world finest varieties of black tea. Some of the places worth trekking are Singalila Ridge, Phalut, Dzongri and Goecha La.

5. सिक्किम (Sikkim)
Sikkim is a small but beautiful Himalayan state located in the east part of India. This state shares its border with China, Nepal and Bhutan. It shares many Himalayan mountain ranges with Darjeeling. Some of the places you should visit are Singalila Ridge, Phalut, Dzongri and Goecha La. Please note that the places are same as we have in Darjeeling as many ranges are shared between the Sikkim and Darjeeling.
