Há algumas palavras estrangeiras, ou que foram adaptadas para o inglês, que têm plural irregular. Vejamos algumas:

1. is –> es

analysis – analyses
basis – bases
crisis – crises
hypothesis – hypotheses
parenthesis – parentheses
thesis – theses

2. um –> a

bacterium – bacteria
datum – data
medium – media

3. us –> i

nucleus – nuclei
alumnus – alumni
stimulus – stimuli

4. a –> ae

encyclopedia –> enciclopediae

5. on –> a

criterion –> criteria

6. ix –> ices

matrix – matrices
apprendix – appendices

7. ex –> ices

index – indices

faltou acrescentar aqueles plurais de palavras estrangeiras terminadas em O e que são incorporadas ao inglês: piano(s), fandango(s), tango(s). E sugiro uma relação de palavras que não variam no plural (aircraft is big; aircraft are big).
