Settle down

Ssh! Settle down and go to page 17! [Ssh! Quietos e abram na página 17!]
Eddie was really agitated last night so we took him for a walk around the block to settle him down. [Eddie estava muito agitado ontem à noite então fomos dar uma volta no quarteirão para acalmá-lo.]
It’s been really hectic here. When things settle down, I’ll give you a call. [Está muito atropelado aqui. Quando as coisas se acalmarem eu te ligo.]
It’s about time you got married and settled down. [Já era hora de você se casar e sossegar.]
Are you ever going to settle down and get married? [Será que você vai sossegar e se casar?]

Show up

I was waiting for Ted to help me fix some things at home but he didn’t show up! [Eu estava esperando o Ted me ajudar a consertar umas coisas mas ele não apareceu!]
She was invited to the party but we never thought she would show up, after that fit she threw the weekend before. [Ela foi convidada para a festa mas nunca achei que ela fosse aparecer, depois da cena que ela deu no outro fim de semana.]
Very few people showed up at the meeting. [Pouquíssimas pessoas apareceram na reunião.]

Hit it off

We hit it off from the very start and we’ve been friends for more than ten years. [Nós nos demos bem logo no início e somos amigos há mais de dez anos.]
Jack and I didn’t hit it off at first but then we found out we had the same interests and bonded. [Jack e eu não nos demos bem no começo mas então descobrimos que tínhamos os mesmos interesses e nos juntamos.]

    Oi Adir,

    Muito bacana o podcast. Só uma pequena correção (typo mesmo) no primeiro exemplo:

    “go top age 17″ é narrado como “go to page 17″.
