Sorry for such a late post.. Happy New Year! (あけまして おめでとうございます。Akemashite Omedeto Gozaimasu)

Hope everyone had a great winter break and enjoyed New Year. It’s already past mid January, but January is such a refreshing time of the year with many hopes for the upcoming year of 2016. I wish everyone out there a great year of 2016 with happiness and more than anything healthy fulfilling year!

So, have you already set up your resolutions (抱負、ほうふ、Ho-fu) yet? Hopefully one of them will be learning Japanese or improving your Japanese. If that ‘s the case, I am here to help you, giving you at least some sort of advice that might be helpful for your studying. Make sure to leave me your comments under comment section as that’s the only way to reach me for now.

In today’s article, I would like to share with you the following useful expressions that you might want to know: all about New Years and your new resolution.

 

New Year (Shin nen)

新年

New Year’s (Osho gatsu)

お正月

Happy New Year. (Akemashite omedeto gozaimasu)

あけましておめでとうございます。

I look forward to our continued friendship for the coming year. (Kotoshimo douzo yoroshiku onegai shimasu.)

今年もどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

This year’s resolution (kotoshino houfu)

今年の 抱負は、~です。

My new resolution is ~ (Watashi no atarashii houfuwa ~ desu.)

私の 新しい 抱負は ~です。

My goal for this year is ~ (Watashino kotoshino moku hyou wa ~ desu.)

私の 今年の 目標は ~です。

Compared to the last year’s goal, this year’s goal is

(Kyonen no moku hyou ni kurabete, kotoshino moku hyou wa~ desu.)

去年の 目標 に 比べて 今年の 目標は、~です。

I will work on ~ this year. (Kotoshi wa ~ o ganbari masu.)

今年は、~ を 頑張り ます。

My goal for this year is to study Japanese. (Kotoshino watashino moku hyou wa nihongo o benkyo suru koto desu.)

今年の 私の 目標は 日本語の 勉強を する ことです。
