In the previous week, you learned Native-Korean number and how to use the number with Korean currency Won. Let’s learn more detail how to use the number with counters: 명/myung/is a counter for people. You should be noticed that number 1 to 4 and 20 have been changed to another form below.

1/하나/hana             한 명/han myung

2/둘/dool                  두 명/doo myung

3/셋/ses(set)            세 명/sae myung

4/넷/nes(net)           네 명/nae myung

5/다섯/daseot          다섯 명

6/여섯/yeoseot        여섯 명

7/일곱/ilgob             일곱 명

20/스물/sue mul     스무 명 sue moo myung

There are more examples below and extended sentences.

Ex) There are three people.  사람이 세 명 있어요/sae myung it eo yo.

There are four students.  학생이 네 명 있어요/hak saeng nae myung e it eo yo.

There are two students in the class.  교실에 학생이 두 명 있어요

Here is another counter for object: 개/gae. Please see examples below.

Ex) There are three DVDs. 디비디가 세 개 있어요/de b de ga sae gae it eo yo.

There are four cups.      컵이 네 개 있어요/ cup e nae gae it eo yo.
