Learn Korean “Verb+음/ㅁ”- Nominalization #3 Posted by on Apr 6, 2015 in Uncategorized

This is the last way to change from verb to noun. As I said last two week, you have to know the way of change from verb to noun because Korean uses verb as a noun a lot. When they change from verb to noun, they remove 다 and then add 음/ㅁ to make noun. For your information: this way of nominalization is not common when Korean speak, but you will see in writing or dictionary. Let me give you some examples how to change it. Please see examples below.

To read –읽다 > reading 읽음

To eat – 먹다 > eating 먹음

As I said that this is not common way in speaking form because this way of nominalization becomes very independent, but there are a few vocabularies Korean use when they speak.

To sleep – 자다 > sleeping 잠 > I am going to be soon/ 곧 잠을 잘 거예요.

To dance – 추다 > eating 춤 > I am going to go to a club for dancing with my friends/ 친구하고 춤을 추러 클럽에 갈 거예요.
