Polite Korean Posted by on Sep 7, 2015 in Uncategorized

Korea is the country of courteous people in the East. That means polite Korean language is big portion of learning Korean language. Every each Korean has to use polite language to stranger, older people, etc. It is offending someone if Korean doesn’t use proper polite language; it can even cause a big fighting. However, you don’t have to worry too much as you are a foreigner because you can always use your foreigner card. Also, you don’t have to use polite language to your friends, small children, etc. As you know, Korean is a super hard language, so I don’t really want you to learn polite and impolite language separately because you can be confused. I recommend you that just use polite language just in case if you are confused in any situation especially in job fields. It seems like very unprofessional.

There are some tips how to keep memorizing to use polite language in the video below using 니다 and 요 at the end of verb. You can watch the video below to learn. I just want add one more which is 까.  As you know, hello is 안녕하세요 in Korean; it is polite but not formal polite. Adding 까 becomes 안녕하십니까/ an neyoung ha sip ni gga. You can use 안녕하십니까 in a job interview and also to your boss every morning. You are always welcome to add comment or question below.
