Warm beets recipe Posted by on Aug 9, 2011 in Uncategorized

Hello:)

When I posted a “Kotlety mielone” recipe in one of my recent blogs, you asked for the recipe for the beets that were on the picture…
So here it is:

5 medium cooked beets, peeled and shredded

3 tablespoons horseradish, to taste

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon flour

2 spoons of sour cream

pinch of salt, pepper and sugar

Cook the beets first for about 10 minutes on low heat, until they get soft. Make sure to cook them before you peel them (just cut the ends of), so they do not loose all the beautiful colors. Once they have been cooking for a while, take them out of the boiling water and let them cool off for a moment.

Peel the beets and grate them (or you can just cut them into pieces if you prefer).

Melt the butter in the small pot and start sautéing beets. Stir in the flour.Add horseradish, sugar, salt and pepper. Sauté everything for few more minutes.

At the end add sour cream (it is optional, but it gives the dish very nice taste). Cook for another 2 minutes…and it ready! Great with meats and potatoes or just as a side dish.

There are different recipes for warm beets, some of them have chopped onions or parsley in it. You can add whatever you would like to. However this is my favorite recipe and that is how I always do it.

Oh, and I forgot  one thing: I always add a little bit of polish seasoning “vegeta” (mixed vegetables seasoning).

Let me know how it came out!

Smacznego!

Do następnego razu… (Till next time…)

    Kasia.

I am from Chicago. Now I live near Clearwater, FL. Today I made buraczki, kotlet, i kartofle w/ czosnek na kolacja for my boys and their mother. The other day I made pierogi for the gang. They are strong and healthy because they eat good polish food. Someday I will make czernina for them. Today I am also making zupa od kurcze. They know what’s good for them.

    Smacznego!
