Favorite Brazilian Drink Posted by on Jul 17, 2009 in Uncategorized

Brazil has some of the most amazing juices, smoothies, and drinks in the Americas that you can usually get on every street anywhere in the country. By day, there are fresh coconut waters, tropical fruit juices, and açaí smoothies, and by night, the famous caipirinha and hundreds of locally brewed beers.

So for today’s interactive feature, the question is: what is your favorite Brazilian drink?

This is a very difficult question, since there are so many spectacular fruit juices, and I’m always surprised to find ones made from fruits I’ve never even heard of. I’m a big fan of suco de melão (melon juice) and vitaminas (smoothies made with fruit, sugar, and milk). I also like caipifrutas, caiprinhas made with different tropical fruits instead of limes.

What about you?

  1. Leanna:

Gosto de cremes de acerola ou maracuja e refrigerantes de guarana tambem.

  2. pamela:

    acerola com laranja!

  3. Carol:

Suco de abacaxi bem gelado e cheio de espuma!
    (coisa inexistente fora daqui!)

  4. mallory elise:

Capeta! vinho tinto + morango + leite condencado + abacaxi, e vodka. mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  5. Steven:

First, whoever was the first person to come up with the idea of selling cold água de côco on the street was a genius. Also, caldo de cana is something simple and good, but unusual to find in the U.S. My favorite, though, is suco de maracujá, which is also my favorite for “caiprinhas”.

  6. Tracy:

Wow, this is a tough one, but I’d have to go with any drink made from cupuaçu. Maybe a batida de cupuaçu or a caipiroska with cupuaçu. Yum!

  7. Sara:

I love agua de coco and acai smoothies, but is it horrible that the drink I’ve been missing most since leaving Brazil is Guarana?

  8. Marcela:

Estou dividida entre dois: suco de abacaxi com hortela e suco de caja (nao e caju! 😉

    Ai, que saudades de casa…

  9. Mônica:

Abacaxi com hortelã. É tudo de bom.

  10. Julie:

Favourite drink? Well I live down in the south so its definitely chimarrão…

  11. Amanda:
