Smelling Good in Portuguese

As we’ve written about before, hygiene is very important in Brazil, and Brazil is one of Latin America’s biggest markets for hygiene products. Today we’re going to review some vocabulary related to smelling good in Portuguese.

perfume = perfume/cologne

desodorante = deodorant

desodorante colônia = body spray

sabonete = soap

sabonete líquido = liquid soap

bucha = shower pouf

esponja de banho = bath sponge

hidrantante = moisturizer

loção corporal = body lotion

tomar banho = to take a shower

cheiroso = good-smelling

fedorento = smelly

Examples:

Nossa, você está cheiroso! Wow, you smell good!

Voltei da academia e estou fedorento. Preciso tomar banho. I’m back from the gym and I’m smelly. I need to take a shower.

    Thank you for these helpful vocabulary words. Have you heard the song by Rita Ribeiro titled “Banho Cheiroso”? It’s delightful. I’ve never heard a song about taking a shower! :)
