Olá, pessoal!

Let’s say goodbye to February with a conversational post. Oftentimes we study a foreign language, but when it comes to actually speaking it, we get stuck and don’t know what to say.

So now when you want to tell a story in Portuguese, you can use the following sentences:

Contando Histórias em Português

Já te contei o que aconteceu… – Have I told you what happened…
Não vou me esquecer de… – I’m not going to forget to…
Você não vai acreditar no que aconteceu… – You’re not going to believe what happened…
Tenho que te contar um negócio! – I have to tell you something!
Você deveria ter visto… – You should have seen…
Quer dizer… – I mean…
Um dia desses… – One of these days…
Isso aconteceu em… – This happened in…
Eu estava em… – I was in…
Estaba indo para… – I was going to…
Estava votando de… – I was coming back from…
Tinham me pedido para… – I’d been asked to…
Eu me dei conta de que… – I realized…
Então eu disse… – So I said…
Então o cara disse… – So the guy said…
Nesse momento… – At this moment…
E de repente… – And suddenly…
Bom, quando isso aconteceu… – Well, when that happened…
Sem mais nem menos. – For no reason at all.
Tudo aconteceu tão rápido. – Everything happened so fast.
Eu não soube o que dizer a ele/ela. – I didn’t know what to tell him/her.
Naquela época eu… – At that time I…
E então eu me dei conta de que… – And then I realized that…
Fiquei chocado. – I was shocked.
E pensei comigo mesmo… – And I thought to myself…

Você sabe como é quando… – You know what it’s like when…
Dá pra acreditar?- Can you believe that?
Dá pra imaginar? – Can you imagine that?
Imagina como eu me senti? – Can you imagina how I felt?
No momento achei que era uma boa ideia. – At the moment I believed it was a good idea.
Como eu ia saber…? – How could I know…?
Quando eu me dei conta, estava no meio da rua. – When I realized, I was in the middle of the street.
Não, espera, que ainda não terminou… – No, wait, it’s not over yet…
A pior parte foi… – The worst part was…
E pra piorar as coias… – And to make things worse…
Não teria sido tão ruim, mas… – It wouldn’t have been so bad, but…
Por sorte… – Luckily…
Estava começando a me sentir… – I was starting to feel…
É claro que eu… – Of course I…
Enfim, eu resolvi… – Anyway, I decided to…
E então, por um milagre… – And then, as a miracle…
Se não fosse por ela… – If it wasn’t for her…
… eu tería… – …I would have…
Juro por Deus. – I swear to God.
Se eu não tivesse visto com meus próprios olhos, não teria acreditado. – If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it.
Parecia uma cena de novela – It was like a soap opera scene.
Aprendi uma lição. – I learned from this lesson.
Moral da história… – The moral of the story is…
