Canción: No Me Ames – Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Posted by on Nov 25, 2010 in Spanish Culture, Videos

The song No Me Ames, by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony was released in 1999 as the second single of Lopez’s On the 6 CD. As it had a limited release many think that Waiting for Tonight is the second single.

The song is a cover of an Italian song called Non Amarmi, by Aleandro Baldi and Francesca Alotta and talks about a man with a disability asking her lover not to love him out of pity.

Check the video with the lyrics in Spanish and below, the lyrics with a translation into English. Aprovéchalo.

Dime porque lloras Tell me, why are you crying?
De felicidad Because I’m happy
Y porque te ahogas And why are you so choked up?
Por la soledad From loneliness
Di porque me tomas And why are you squeezing
Fuerte así, mis manos So tightly my hands?
Y tus pensamientos te van llevando And your thoughts seem to be wandering?
Yo te quiero tanto I love you so much
Y porque será Why?
Loco testarudo Don’t be so hard-headed
No lo dudes más Stop doubting me
Aunque en el futuro haya un muro enorme Although in the future there’s a large wall
Yo no tengo miedo I’m not afraid
Quiero enamorarme I want to fall in love
No me ames, porque pienses Don’t love me because you think
Que parezco diferente That I look different
Tú no piensas ques es lo justo You don’t think it’s right
Ver pasar el tiempo juntos For us to spend this time together
No me ames, que comprendo Don’t love me because I know
La mentira que sería What a lie it would be
Si tu amor merezco If I deserve your love
No me ames, mas quédate otra dia Don’t love me, but stay another day
No me ames, porque estoy perdido Don’t love me because I’m lost
Porque cambie el mundo Because the world is changing
porques es el destino because it’s fate
Porque no se puede, somos un espejo Because we can’t, we’re a mirror
Y tú así serías lo que yo de mí reflejo And you would be what I reflect of me
No me ames, para estar muriendo Don’t love me to be dying
Dentro de una guerra llena de arrepentimientos Inside a war full of regrets
No me ames, para estar en tierra Don’t love me to be on the ground
Quiero alzar el vuelo I want to take off
Con tu gran amor por el azul del cielo With your big love over the blue sky
No sé que decirte I don’t know what to say
Esa es la verdad That’s the truth
Si la gente quiere, sabe lastimar If people want to want to hurt us, they will
Tú y yo partiremos You and I will depart
ellos no se mueven They don’t move
Pero en este cielo sola no me dejes But in this world don’t leave me alone
No me dejes, no me dejes Don’t leave me, don’t leave me
No me eschuches, si te digo “no me ames” Don’t listen when I ask you not to love me
No me dejes, no desarmes Don’t leave me, don’t break my heart
Mi corazón con ese “no me ames” With that “don’t love me”
No me ames, to lo ruego Don’t love me, I beg you
Mi amargura, déjame My bitterness, leave me
Sabes bien, que no puedo You know full well that I can’t
Que es inútil, que siempre te amaré That it’s useless, that I will always love you
No me ames Don’t love me
Pues te haré sufrir Because I’ll make you suffer
Con este corazón With this heart
Que se llenó de mil inviernos That’s filled with a thousand winters
No me ames Don’t love me
Para así olvidarte Don’t love me so you can forget
De tus días grises Your gray days
Quiero que me ames solo por amarme I want you to love me only for loving me
No me ames, tú y yo volaremos Don’t love me, you and I will fly
Uno con el otro y One with the other
Y seguiremos siempre juntos And we’ll always be together
Este amor es como el sol This love is like the sun
Que sale tras de la tormenta That comes out after a storm
Como dos cometas en la misma estela Like two comets in the same tail
No me ames Don’t love me…

Having the lyrics makes it so much easier to understand not only the individual words and sentences, but also the overall theme. Thanks, I loved it.

    ¡Hola Adir!
Es una buena canción, pero la que me gusta más de este dúo es ´Te voy a querer´
