Making comparisons in Spanish is pretty easy, compared to the English way. Take a look at the most common patterns:

Comparativo de superioridad (Superiority)
En el sur llueve más que en el norte. (It rains more in the south than in the north.)
Hoy hace más calor que ayer. (Today is hotter than yesterday.)
Mi perro es mayor (más grande) que el tuyo. (My dog is bigger than yours.)

Comparativo de igualdad (Equality)
Este invierno hace tanto frío como el invierno pasado. (This winter is as cold as last winter.)
Ayer había tantas nubes como hoy. (There were as many clouds yesterday as today.)
Esta ciudad es tan grande como aquella. (This city is as big as that one.)

Comparativo de inferioridad (Inferiority)
Aquí hace menos sol que en otras ciudades. (Here is less sunny than in other cities.)
En el sur de Brasil nieva menos que en Europa. (It snows less in southern Brazil than in Europe.)
Antes los días eram menos nublados que ahora. (In the past days were less cloudy than now.)
Necesito una talla menor (más pequeña). (I need a smaller size.)

Superlativo relativo
Es la más fría de todas las ciudades. (It’s the coldest of all cities.)
Es el más grande entre los lagos. (It’s the largest among all lakes.)
Es el lugar menos poblado. (It’s the least inhabited place.)

Superlativo absoluto
Vivía en una ciudad lindísima. (He used to live in a gorgeous city.)
El otoño fue agradabilísimo. (Fall was extremely pleasant.)
Aquella montaña es súper alta. (That mountain is extremely high.)
Es un lago muy grande. (It’s a very big lake.)
Hay paseos requetebuenos. (There are really good walks.)
