Intermediate theory video lesson 39

1. First, I am going to say a few sentences in Spanish and I would like you to say if you like those actions or not. For example, if I say: “Mi vecino fuma en el ascensor” you could say “No me gusta que mi vecino fume en el ascensor”:

Mi madre me llama todos los días.
Mis amigos no quieren ir al cine.
Mi pareja cocina todos los días.
Mis vecinos hablan muy alto.
Mi hijo quiere un perro

2. Next, let´s transform some sentences in El Presente de Subjuntivo to El Pretérito Perfecto de Subjuntivo:

Me encanta que haga sol.
Me disgusta que me hables así.
No me gusta que no vengas conmigo.
Me fascina que mi pareja cocine paella.
No me gusta que llueva.

3. Now, please translate the following sentences from English to Spanish:

I dislike that you don´t talk to me.
I am crazy about you teaching me to dance.
I love that you are so patient.
I like that you understand me.
I hate that people smoke in the lift.

4. Finally, do you understand the following sentences?

Me chifla que cantes para mí.
Odio que digas esas cosas.
Me encanta que me ayudes.
Me entusiasma que hagas una tarta de chocolate.
Me resulta insoportable que María hable mal de la gente.

Esto es todo por hoy.

These different structures are very useful as we all love talking about what we like or dislike. You will quickly realise how much you use them when talking in Spanish. Think about things that other people do that you like, love, dislike, hate, etc, and practice making some sentences about them. This will help to give you some confidence and prepare you for when you are in conversation with someone in Spanish.
