What to say when you meet someone (again!) Posted by on Aug 2, 2010 in Spanish Culture

Hey guys, how’ve you all been?

Well, today’s post brings you some useful expressions when you meet someone for the first time (or not!). They’re informal everyday sentences and therefore use the te pronoun.

Mira, te presento a … (Hey, let me introduce you to …)

¿No te acuerdas de mí? Soy … (Don’t you remember me? I’m …)

Hace tiempo que quería conocerte. (I’ve wanted to meet you for a long time.)

Encantado(a) de conocerte. (Pleased to meet you.)

¡Ah, me parece que te conozco! (It looks like we’ve met!)

¿Cómo andas? (How’ve you been?)

¡Cuánto tiempo sin verte! (I haven’t seen you in ages!)

¿Cómo van las cosas? (How are things?)

¿Qué hay? (What’s up?)

¡Anda, qué sorpresa! No esperaba encontrarte aquí. (Wow, what a surprise! I wasn’t expecting to meet you here.)

¡Hola, bienvenido(s)! (Hey, welcome!)

¡Ni bien ni mal! (I’m OK, so-so.)

Voy tirando. (I’m OK, not bad.)

Pues, ya ves… (Well, you see …)

Así, así. / Regular (Not bad.)

¿Qué tal? (How are you doing?)

¿Cómo están tus padres? (How are your parents doing?)

¡Qué bien te veo! (You look fastastic!)

Nos vemos prontito.
