A day in the Bekaa Valley رحلة إلى سهل البقاع Posted by on May 27, 2019 in Arabic Language, Culture

Marhaba readers! Yesterday I spent the day in the Bekaa Valley( سهل البقاع), the largest valley in Lebanon.

The first stop was in Zahle(زحله) the largest town and administrative capital of the Bekaa Governorate. In Zahle, we visited the biggest wine producers in Lebanon : Les Caves de Ksara (French). Les Caves de Ksara or The Caves of Ksara is a wine cave that serves as a cellar and as a production establishment. We had a tour through the caves and enjoyed a wine tasting.

After the tour at Ksara, we headed to Taanayel(تعنايل ), where you can connect with nature like never before. The lake is surrounded by pathways lined with trees and breathtaking vineyards. They rent bikes for the ultimate experience of Taanayel by bike(which I strongly recommend).

Finally, to end the day with a full belly, we went for lunch at the valley’s most renowned restaurant called : Restaurant Al-Shams (مطعم الشمس).  Literally translated to : the restaurant of the sun, I can safely say that it was one of the best culinary experiences of my life.

the crown jewels of the Lebanese cuisine : Hommos and Kebbe Nayye . PS : can you spot the shisha?

Marhaba! My name is Anastasia, I'm Lebanese and I'm the new Arabic blogger! As the great prophet Khalil Gibran once said "You have your Lebanon and I have my Lebanon." For as long as I can remember, my country has been poorly portrayed in the Western media, so allow me to introduce to the magic, mystical, and breathtakingly beautiful land I grew up in called : LEBANON.
