Welcome to the second part of this post where we look at some common greeting phrases بعض عبارات التحية الشائعة in different Arabic dialects. To learn about these greeting phrases, , I’m using a short video clip from “Arab Idol”, an adapted version from the original show – American Idol. Last week, we started looking at the first two conversation and their equivalents in standard Arabic (You can read it by clicking here). Today, we continue with the last two.

Below, you will find a transcription of each conversation, translated into English. For those who would like to know how to say the lines of each conversation in Modern Standard Arabic, you will also find that at the end of this post.

May Allah protect you (bless you too).

 

١: إيش اسمك؟

Hajeera.

Please note that many phrases may stay the same as there are common ones that are readily taken from MSA and are used in everyday/spoken Arabic.
