Marhaba! Nowadays it\u2019s quite hard not to come across any news from Syria on a daily basis. By all means this is one of the bloodiest wars in modern history, and it\u2019s affecting the Syrian people as well as neighboring societies in the Arab world. In addition to the thousands of people that have perished in this war, there are reports about the unexpected levels of destruction and devastation in every part of Syria. Today I am sharing an excerpt from an article that discusses the effects of the Syrian war on world famous historical sites. I came across this informative, yet extremely sad, news article on BBC Arabic<\/a>. Click on the previous link to view the photos in this news article. It goes without saying that this is a reading comprehension exercise. I am sharing it today so that you learn to discuss recent events with family and friends, even if it is disappointing news that saddens the heart and mind.
