In Arabic, verbs appear in different forms (patterns) that depend on the root system. The roots of verbs appear in different forms that have the same basic meaning, but different forms give additional meaning to the basic meaning of the verb.<\/h3>\n

In this post, verb forms I, II and II are explained with some examples and exercises.<\/h3>\n

Form I (\u0641\u0639\u0644\u064e) gives the basic meaning of the verb.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

Form II (\u0641\u0639\u0651\u064e\u0644\u064e), makes an intransitive verb transitive, e.g.<\/h3>\n

\u062f\u0631\u0633 means to study, while \u062f\u0631\u0651\u0633 means to teach.<\/h3>\n

\u0639\u0644\u0645 means to know, while \u0639\u0644\u0651\u0645 means to teach.<\/h3>\n

\u062e\u0631\u062c means to go out, while \u062e\u0631\u0651\u062c means to graduate.<\/h3>\n

Form II also intensifies the action, e.g.<\/h3>\n

\u0643\u0633\u0631 means to break, while \u0643\u0633\u0651\u0631 means to smash.<\/h3>\n

\u0642\u0637\u0639 means to cut, while \u0642\u0637\u0651\u0639 means to cut into small pieces.<\/h3>\n

Form III (\u0641\u0627\u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e), implies participation, i.e. to involve both the subject and the object in doing the action, e.g.<\/h3>\n

\u062f\u0631\u0633 means to study, while\u062f\u0627\u0631\u0633 means to study with another person.<\/h3>\n

\u0643\u062a\u0628 means to write, while \u0643\u0627\u062a\u0628 means to correspond with.<\/h3>\n

\u0642\u062a\u0644 means to kill, while \u0642\u0627\u062a\u0644 means to fight with someone else.<\/h3>\n
