In this post, I respond to a query from a reader who noticed that the second person masculine plural form is not included in the table. The table presented below is complete.<\/p>\n

Doubled verbs (\u0627\u0644\u0641\u0639\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0636\u0639\u0641) in Arabic end in a doubled letter, i.e. one with shadda (\u0640\u0651), e.g. (\u0634\u062f\u0651) \u2018pulled\u2019, (\u0638\u0646\u0651) \u2018thought\u2019, (\u0627\u0633\u062a\u0639\u062f\u0651) \u2018got prepared\u2019, (\u0627\u0633\u062a\u0645\u0631\u0651) \u2018continued\u2019, etc. What is special about these verbs is that with some pronouns, the doubled letter has to be repeated twice, while with others, it remains one letter with shadda. The table below gives 2 examples of doubled verbs conjugated in the past tense. The pronouns that require the use of the letter twice are presented in bold in the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
