\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Om-Kolthoom was a singer \u0645\u0637\u0631\u0628\u0629\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>, songwriter \u0645\u0624\u0644\u0641\u0629 \u0623\u063a\u0627\u0646\u0649 <\/strong>and actress \u0645\u0645\u062b\u0644\u0629 . <\/strong>She is probably the most famous Egyptian and Arab singer. She was nicknamed as the Star of the East \u0643\u0648\u0643\u0628 \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0631\u0642\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>and the Lady of the Arabic Singing \u0633\u064a\u062f\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u063a\u0646\u0627\u0621 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0628\u0649 .<\/strong> She is widely regarded as the greatest female singer in the history of Arab music.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Om-kolthoom was born in a village \u0642\u0631\u064a\u0629 <\/strong>in Dakahlia Governorate in Egypt. At a young age, she showed an exceptional singing talent \u0645\u0648\u0647\u0628\u0629 . <\/strong>Her father, a mosque Imam \u0625\u0645\u0627\u0645 \u0645\u0633\u062c\u062f\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>, realized her talent when\u00a0 he taught her to recite \u064a\u0631\u062a\u0644 <\/strong>the Qur’an. She was said to have memorized the entire book. She moved, from her village to live in Cairo in 1923 .<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Her vocal characteristics attracted \u062c\u0630\u0628\u062a<\/strong> the most famous composers\u00a0\u00a0\u0645\u0644\u062d\u0646\u064a\u0646 <\/strong>, musicians \u0645\u0648\u0633\u064a\u0642\u064a\u064a\u0646<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and lyric poets \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0639\u0631\u0627\u0621 \u0627\u0644\u063a\u0646\u0627\u0626\u064a\u064a\u0646<\/strong>.<\/strong> She worked with\u00a0 Mohammad El-Qasabgi; the best Oud player \u0639\u0627\u0632\u0641 \u0639\u0648\u062f\u00a0 <\/strong>and the famous poet of Youth \u0634\u0627\u0639\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0628\u0627\u0628<\/strong>\u00a0; Ahmed Rami who wrote 137 songs for her.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Two events \u062d\u062f\u062b\u0627\u0646<\/strong>determined the fate \u0645\u0635\u064a\u0631\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of Om Kolthoom as the most popularArab singer. \u00a0The First was her appearances \u0638\u0647\u0648\u0631<\/strong> in musical movies. The second was the live broadcasting\u00a0\u00a0\u0625\u0630\u0627\u0639\u0629 \u0645\u0628\u0627\u0634\u0631\u0629<\/strong>of her concerts. Her influence \u062a\u0623\u062b\u064a\u0631\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>kept growing and expanding beyond the artistic scene.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>In 1944, King Farouk of Egypt decorated her with the Perfection Order (Nishan El-kamal) \u0646\u064a\u0634\u0627\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0643\u0645\u0627\u0644<\/strong>,<\/strong> a decoration reserved exclusively to members of the royal family \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0627\u0626\u0644\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0644\u0643\u064a\u0629\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and politicians. Her songs deal mostly with the universal themes of: \u00a0love \u0627\u0644\u062d\u0628<\/strong>, longing \u0627\u0644\u062d\u0646\u064a\u0646<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and loss \u0627\u0644\u062d\u0631\u0645\u0627\u0646<\/strong>.<\/strong> Most of her songs have durations measured in hours rather than minutes.<\/p>\n

After the Revolution of 1952, she was\u00a0 interested in\u00a0 patriotic songs \u0627\u0644\u0623\u063a\u0627\u0646\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0648\u0637\u0646\u064a\u0629 .<\/strong> One of these songs was called\u00a0 On the Door of Egypt \u0639\u0644\u0649 \u0628\u0627\u0628 \u0645\u0635\u0631 <\/strong>which came back to life after the second rise of the Egyptian people in the Revolution of 2011.
