Marhaba! Today I want to introduce you to one of my favorite contemporary singers in the Arab world, Souad Massi (\u0633\u0639\u0627\u062f \u0645\u0627\u0633\u064a<\/strong>)! Born in Algeria, Massi is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She first started performing at around the age of 17, and started her career with the political rock band Atakor. After moving to Paris, France in 1999, she started her solo career. Her music is infused with American folk music, western rock music, as well as oriental and African musical influences.<\/p>\n

I am sharing with you today one of my favorite songs by Souad Massi, Raoui (\u0631\u0627\u0648\u064a<\/strong>), which translates into Storyteller. This song carries Arabic folk undertones and reminisces about a time of childhood when storytellers used to weave their stories about life and take children to another world. Raoui is also the title of Massi\u2019s first solo album released in 2001. I have added the song in the form of a YouTube video. I have also added the lyrics in Arabic so that you can follow and sing with Souad Massi, and translated them to English so that you can learn what these beautiful lyrics mean.<\/p>\n
