This post is about its derivation from <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/arabic\/arabic-verb-forms-transitive-vs-intransitive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">intransitive verbs<\/a> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0623\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0627\u0632\u0650\u0645\u064e\u0629<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/arabic\/arabic-verb-forms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complex verbs<\/a> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0623\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0632\u0650\u064a\u0652\u062f\u064e\u0629<\/strong>. Also, they are both intransitive (i.e. they don\u2019t need an object to form a meaningful sentence). Yes, to some extent.<\/p>\n<p>Concerning the verbs that belong to the same group as <strong>\u0641\u064e\u0631\u0650\u062d\u064e <\/strong>with respect to the diacritics, If the verb expresses a casual happening\/event, as in the verbs in blue in the table, the AP is the same in form as the verb, except for the final diacritical mark, which can be <em>fatHah<\/em>, <em>DHammah<\/em>, or <em>kasarah<\/em> or the corresponding <em>tanween <\/em>should the word be <strong>\u0646\u064e\u0643\u0650\u0631\u064e\u0629 <\/strong><em>nakirah<\/em> \u2018indefinite\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>If the verb refers to quantity, that is something or someone is <em>full of <\/em>or <em>devoid of<\/em> something, as in <strong>\u062c\u064e\u0648\u0650\u0639\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to be hungry\u2019 and <strong>\u0634\u064e\u0628\u0650\u0639\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to be full\u2019, the AP is formed by adding <strong>\u0627\u0646 <\/strong>to the end of the verb. Also, the <em>kasrah <\/em>of the middle letter changes to <em>sukoon<\/em>, hence <strong>\u062c\u064e\u0648\u0650\u0639\u064e <\/strong>and <strong>\u0634\u064e\u0628\u0650\u0639\u064e <\/strong>become <strong>\u062c\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0646 <\/strong>and <strong>\u0634\u064e\u0628\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0646<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If the verb indicates colors or appearances, as in <strong>\u062d\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0631\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to become red\u2019 or <strong>\u0639\u064e\u0648\u0650\u0631\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to become blind\u2019, the AP is derived by adding <em>hamzah <\/em>to the start of the verb as well by changing the internal diacritics, therefore <strong>\u062d\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0631\u064e <\/strong>becomes <strong>\u0623\u064e\u062d\u0652\u0645\u064e\u0631 <\/strong>and <strong>\u0639\u064e\u0648\u0650\u0631\u064e <\/strong>becomes <strong>\u0623\u064e\u0639\u0652\u0648\u064e\u0631<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As to the verbs that belong to the same group as <strong>\u0636\u064e\u062e\u064f\u0645\u064e<\/strong> and <strong>\u0643\u064e\u0628\u064f\u0631\u064e<\/strong>, that is the medial letter has <em>DHammah<\/em>, there are a few ways to derive the AP. However, the most common are: 1) using the same form of the verb except for the middle diacritical mark. It changes from <em>DHammah <\/em>to<em> sukoon,<\/em> thus <strong>\u0636\u064e\u062e\u064f\u0645\u064e <\/strong>\u00a0becomes \u00a0<strong>\u0636\u064e\u062e\u0652\u0645<\/strong>, and 2)\u00a0adding <strong>\u064a <\/strong>after the second letter and changing the <em>DHammah<\/em> of the middle letter to <em>kasrah<\/em>, so <strong>\u0643\u064e\u0628\u064f\u0631\u064e<\/strong> become <strong>\u0643\u064e\u0628\u0650\u064a\u0652\u0631<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><u>Complex Arabic Verbs and the Active Participle: <\/u><\/p>\n<p>The complex Arabic verb <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0641\u0650\u0639\u0652\u0644\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0632\u0650\u064a\u0652\u062f<\/strong> is the verb that includes one, two, or three letters-of-addition (<strong>\u0647\u0640\u060c \u0646\u060c \u0623\u060c \u0648\u060c \u062a\u060c \u0633\u060c \u0644\u060c \u064a\u060c \u0645<\/strong>) besides the three letters of root. Therefore, the complex verb can be <strong>\u0631\u064f\u0628\u064e\u0627\u0639\u0650\u064a <\/strong>\u2018of four letters\u2019, <strong>\u062e\u064f\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650\u064a <\/strong>\u2018of five letters\u2019, or <strong>\u0633\u064f\u062f\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650\u064a <\/strong>\u2018of six letters.\u2019 <strong>\u0631\u064f\u0628\u064e\u0627\u0639\u0650\u064a <\/strong>is verbs like <strong>\u0633\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064e\u062d\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to forgive\u2019 and <strong>\u0623\u064e\u062e\u0652\u0631\u064e\u062c <\/strong>\u2018to direct a movie\u2019; <strong>\u062e\u064f\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650\u064a \u00a0<\/strong>is verbs like <strong>\u0627\u0650\u0646\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0642\u064e\u0644\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to move\u2019 and <strong>\u062a\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0645\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to learn\u2019; <strong>\u0633\u064f\u062f\u064e\u0627\u0633\u0650\u064a <\/strong>is verbs like <strong>\u0627\u0650\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u062e\u0652\u0631\u064e\u062c\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to extract\u2019 and <strong>\u0627\u0650\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0631\u0651\u064e <\/strong>\u2018to continue\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Derivation of the AP from these verbs is straightforward and regular. First, we conjugate these verbs with third person singular masculine in the present, hence the above verbs become <strong>\u064a\u064f\u0633\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650\u062d<\/strong>, <strong>\u064a\u064f\u062e\u0652\u0631\u0650\u062c<\/strong>, <strong>\u064a\u064e\u0646\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0642\u0650\u0644<\/strong>, <strong>\u064a\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0645<\/strong>, <strong>\u064a\u064e\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u062e\u0652\u0631\u0650\u062c<\/strong>, and <strong>\u064a\u064e\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0631\u0651<\/strong>, respectively. When forming the AP, we drop the <strong>\u064a\u0640<\/strong> of the present and replace it with <strong>\u0645\u064f <\/strong>(<strong>\u0645 <\/strong>with <em>DHammah<\/em>) and adding <em>kasrah <\/em>to the letter that is before the final letter of the verb if it is not already there. So, the AP from these verbs are <strong>\u0645\u064f\u0633\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650\u062d \u2013 \u0645\u064f\u062e\u0652\u0631\u0650\u062c \u2013 \u0645\u064f\u0646\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0642\u0650\u0644 \u2013 \u0645\u064f\u062a\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0644\u0651\u0650\u0645 \u2013 \u0645\u064f\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u062e\u0652\u0631\u0650\u062c \u2013 \u0645\u064f\u0633\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0631\u0651<\/strong>. If the pre-final letter is <strong>\u0627 <\/strong>as in <strong>\u0627\u0650\u062e\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064e \u2013 \u064a\u064e\u062e\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0627\u0631 \u2013 \u0645\u064f\u062e\u0652\u062a\u064e\u0627\u0631 <\/strong>\u2018to choose\u2019, the <em>kasrah <\/em>is needless.<\/p>\n<p><u>Exaggerative Form of AP: <\/u><\/p>\n<p>As the name suggests, this type of AP indicates the repetition in doing an action. This is the only feature that distinguishes it from the regular AP. The exaggerative form of AP is derived only from simple verbs <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0623\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0644\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064f\u062c\u064e\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062f\u064e\u0629<\/strong>. There are not specific rules for its derivation; however, there are two common forms of it.<\/p>\n<p>In verbs like <strong>\u0634\u064e\u0631\u0650\u0628\u064e \u2013 \u0643\u064e\u0630\u064e\u0628\u064e \u2013 \u0633\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0642\u064e<\/strong>, two forms of AP can be derived: regular and exaggerative. The regular means that the actor\/doer of the action did\/does it only once, hence <strong>\u0634\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650\u0628 \u2013 \u0643\u064e\u0627\u0630\u0650\u0628 \u2013 \u0633\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650\u0642<\/strong>.
