\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Most countries of the world celebrated today the Labor Day \u0639\u064a\u062f \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0645\u0627\u0644 <\/strong>which is an annual \u00a0celebration for workers everywhere. The day is a national holiday \u0639\u0637\u0644\u0629 \u0631\u0633\u0645\u064a\u0629 <\/strong>in most countries. It has so many names including the May Day and the International Workers’ Day. The day is commonly celebrated by organizing street demonstrations and marches by working people and their labor unions.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The idea of the celebration dates back to 1869 when some American workers formed some kind of union called Labor Nights. The union aimed at improving wages \u0627\u0644\u0623\u062c\u0648\u0631<\/strong> and work conditions \u0638\u0631\u0648\u0641<\/strong> \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0645\u0644<\/strong> . Then the American Labor Union Movement emerged and called for a nationwide strike \u0625\u0636\u0631\u0627\u0628<\/strong> on the first day of May 1886. The day came to witness huge number of worker strikes estimated by thousands. Workers in Chicago lifted up slogans \u0634\u0639\u0627\u0631\u0627\u062a<\/strong> that said, “Eight hours to work, Eight hours to rest and Eight hours to sleep.”<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span>On the third of May, someone threw a bomb at the police forces that attacked the crowds fiercely and opened fire to disperse them. On the fourth day, bloody confrontations took place among the police and workers in which more that twelve people were killed. An unfair trial \u0645\u062d\u0627\u0643\u0645\u0629<\/strong> followed and four labor leaders were hanged publicly. All those events inspired workers from around the globe and were a source of outrage \u063a\u0636\u0628<\/strong> leading to commemorating the day. Similar strikes swept main cities and capitals in Europe and Asia. The U.S. Congress designated May 1 as\u00a0 Loyalty Day \u064a\u0648\u0645<\/strong> \u0627\u0644\u0648\u0641\u0627\u0621<\/strong> \u00a0in 1958 and celebrated Labor Day on the first Monday in September.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Egypt the day is celebrated on May 1st<\/sup> since the time of the 1952 Revolution. However, the Egyptian workers’ efforts and strikes can be traced back to the early 19th<\/sup> century. They have made great efforts \u00a0in the construction of the Suez Canal and the High Dam and had a long history of struggle for better conditions.<\/p>\n
