The blog posts of the last two weeks provided a transcript of the clip in both regional and standard Arabic. There were also some questions for you to answer and check your comprehension. In this week&#8217;s post, we&#8217;re are going to study the same transcript but in English. You will also be introduced to several important\/useful words and vocabulary that appear in the clip.<\/p>\n<p>The clip (see below) which this comprehension task is based on comes from a popular Egyptian talk show called <em>Sahibet Al-saada<\/em> \u0635\u0627\u062d\u0628\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0639\u0627\u062f\u0629 that is aired on CBC channel. There is \u2018Rishda\u2019 and <strong>all the dishes that have onion sauce in them<\/strong>, such as rice, pasta and vermicelli.. all these are made with onions. The base is different but the main ingredient is the <strong>sauce<\/strong> (onion-based) and the meat. All this is called (with onions).<\/p>\n<p>With regards to <strong>appetisers<\/strong>, we have many appetisers, or <strong>what is known as<\/strong> the light food \u2013 light: \u2018MaHaa\u0161i\u2019, \u2018Al-\u0295usbaan\u2019 \u2013 similar to \u2018Mumbaar\u2019 \u2013 in Egypt &#8211; \u00a0and \u2018Mxadda\u2019: it\u2019s a cannelloni sheet stuffed with <strong>chicken<\/strong> and cheese. We also have chicken \u2018kibbeh\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Libyan cuisine is characterised by its different taste. <strong>All people<\/strong> think it\u2019s similar to Bedouin food, or the coastal style, or the Italian or the Spanish food. It\u2019s correct that it\u2019s a mixture of all those cuisines but it\u2019s unique. It has its taste that is <strong>different from<\/strong> anything else.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>turnout time<\/strong> is approximately between 1pm to 7pm. Then, there\u2019s <strong>breakfast<\/strong> in the morning. And in the evening, there\u2019s some demand but mostly for sandwiches.<\/p>\n<p>The kind of customers we have are.. we could say 70% of them are Libyans, because they know the taste they are after. And 30% of them are a mixture of: Egyptians, Lebanese people, Jordanians, Syrians, and foreigners.<\/p>\n<p>There is a great demand on the Libyan food by the Egyptians, <strong>especially those who<\/strong> <strong>have a background on it<\/strong>. And that who tries it once, tries it again. Most people from different nationalities like this food.
