As mentioned in the first and second part of the blog, the song is interesting in terms of the several cultural phrases included in it. Over the <strong>last two weeks<\/strong>, we started by understanding the content of the song and also started looking at the <em>first<\/em> set of these phrases. The main word, which can be a bit tricky for a learner, is that of the passive participle \u0627\u0633\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0641\u0639\u0648\u0644 \u00a0of ma2door \u0645\u0642\u062f\u0648\u0631 \u00a0from the verb 2idir \u0642\u0650\u062f\u0650\u0631\u0652 (in Egyptian Arabic), meaning \u2018he was able to\u2019 to refer to the past of the verb \u2018can\u2019. Also, \u2018dafater\u2019 here doesn\u2019t actually mean books or booklets in the literal sense but it refers to someone\u2019s story and destiny.<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>These two words only make sense if the religious references (in Islam) they are based on is taken into account. In terms of <strong>\u0639\u0628\u062f<\/strong> , it\u2019s wither used to refer to a worshipper (from the word worship \u0639\u0628\u0627\u062f\u0629 ) or an individual who has devoted himself to Allah. The female equivalent to this is ama \u0623\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0647<\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>In terms of <strong>\u062f\u0641\u0627\u062a\u0631<\/strong> \u00a0it metaphorically refers to the booklets in which <em>angels<\/em> <strong>\u0645\u0644\u0627\u0626\u0643\u0629<\/strong> \u00a0write people\u2019s destinies in as well as their deeds so they can be used later to judge the overall outcome of their lives and how well they did.<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h6><strong>\u0644\u0648 \u0645\u0634\u064a\u0646\u0627 \u0628\u062d\u0633\u0646 \u0646\u064a\u0629<\/strong><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>law\u00a0\u00a0 mi\u0161ee-na\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 b-Husn\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0niyya<\/h6>\n<h6>if\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 walked-we\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 with-god\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 intention<\/h6>\n<h6>(<em>If we lead [our lives] with good intentions<\/em>)<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>This \u00a0is an advice that people should always have intentions for other people so that all is spared the harm that may result from dealing with each other with bad intentions.<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h6><strong>\u0645\u064a\u0646 \u0628\u064a\u0627\u062e\u062f \u0631\u0632\u0642 \u0645\u064a\u0646<\/strong><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>meen\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 bi-yaaxud\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 riz2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0meen<\/h6>\n<h6>who\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 takes\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 livelihood \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0whom<\/h6>\n<h6>(<em>Who takes the livelihood of another?<\/em>)<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Again, this phrase is based on a religious reference, that is the idea that everyone\u2019s livelihood is allocated to him\/her before even being born and that no one can take away what Allah bestowed on someone. This phrase is sued when someone is trying very hard to get something (particularly in terms of financial matters).
