The masculine <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u064f\u0630\u064e\u0643\u0651\u064e\u0631 <\/strong>is the basic form; therefore, it does not require a marker <strong>\u0639\u064e\u0644\u0627\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0629<\/strong>. The feminine <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u064f\u0624\u064e\u0646\u0651\u064e\u062b <\/strong>is derived from the masculine; it requires a feminine marker <strong>\u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064e\u0629 \u062a\u064e\u0623\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0652\u062b<\/strong>. There are two types of masculine: real masculine and unreal masculine. Likewise, the feminine has three types: real, unreal, and marked. Most learners of Arabic assume that these nouns are masculine forms since they don\u2019t have a final feminine suffix marker (see below), but that is not always the case, as there are nouns that don\u2019t have the feminine marker, but they are feminine, as seen below.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Unreal Feminine \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064f\u0624\u064e\u0646\u0651\u064e\u062b \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u062c\u064e\u0627\u0632\u0650\u064a \/ \u063a\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u062d\u064e\u0642\u0650\u064a\u0652\u0642\u0650\u064a:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The unreal feminine noun is the noun that is treat as a female human or animal, but it is not one, such as <strong>\u0635\u064f\u0648\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0629 <\/strong>\u2018picture\u2019, <strong>\u0633\u064e\u064a\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0631\u064e\u0629<\/strong> \u2018car\u2019, <strong>\u0634\u064e\u0645\u0652\u0633 <\/strong>\u2018sun\u2019, <strong>\u0635\u064e\u062d\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0627\u0621 <\/strong>\u2018desert\u2019, <strong>\u0646\u064e\u0627\u0631 <\/strong>\u2018fire\u2019, <strong>\u0623\u064f\u0630\u0652\u0646 <\/strong>\u2018ear\u2019, <strong>\u0631\u0650\u062c\u0652\u0644 <\/strong>\u2018leg\u2019, <strong>\u0639\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0646 <\/strong>\u2018eye\u2019, <strong>\u0637\u064e\u0627\u0648\u0650\u0644\u064e\u0629 <\/strong>\u2018table\u2019, <strong>\u062f\u064e\u0627\u0631 <\/strong>\u2018house\u2019 and so forth. Although some of these nouns don\u2019t have the feminine marker, but they are still treated as feminine.<\/p>\n<p>While it is easy for a native speaker to tell whether the noun is masculine or feminine (given their intuition), learners of Arabic should learn the gender of these words as they come across them. This is the best learning strategy.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Marked Feminine \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064f\u0624\u064e\u0646\u0651\u064e\u062b \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0638\u0650\u064a:<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While masculine nouns are not marked for masculinity, feminine nouns are. The marked feminine <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u064f\u0624\u064e\u0646\u0651\u064e\u062b \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0638\u0650\u064a<\/strong>, which literally means verbally marked feminine, but in reality it is not feminine, is the noun that has the feminine marker but it refers to a masculine noun. This is especially common in the case of proper nouns, such as <strong>\u062d\u064e\u0645\u0652\u0632\u064e\u0629 <\/strong>\u2018Hamzah\u2019, <strong>\u0645\u064f\u0639\u064e\u0627\u0648\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0629 <\/strong>\u2018Mu\u2019awiyah\u2019, <strong>\u0623\u064f\u0633\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064e\u0629 <\/strong>\u2018Osama\u2019, <strong>\u0632\u064e\u0643\u064e\u0631\u0650\u064a\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0621 <\/strong>\u2018Zakaria\u2019, <strong>\u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0621 <\/strong>\u2018Ala\u2019a\u2019 and alike. These nouns end in <strong>\u0640\u0629 <\/strong><em>taa marbuTah<\/em> and <em>alif <\/em>and <em>hamzah<\/em>, which are feminine markers, but they are masculine.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Feminine Marker Suffixes \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064e\u0627\u062a \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0651\u064e\u0623\u0652\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0652\u062b:<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apart from the unreal feminine nouns, there are three main markers from which we can tell that a noun is feminine. These are: <strong>\u0640\u0629 \/ \u0629 <\/strong>called <strong>\u0627\u0644\u062a\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0621 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0628\u064f\u0648\u0637\u064e\u0629<\/strong> <em>at-taa\u2019 al-marbuTah<\/em>, <strong>\u0640\u0649 <\/strong>called <strong>\u0623\u064e\u0644\u0650\u0641 \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0651\u064e\u0623\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0652\u062b \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0642\u0652\u0635\u064f\u0648\u0631\u064e\u0629 <\/strong><em>alif at-ta\u2019niith al-maqSuurah<\/em>, and <strong>\u0627\u0621 \/ \u0640\u0627\u0621 <\/strong>called <strong>\u0623\u064e\u0644\u0650\u0641 \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0651\u064e\u0623\u0652\u0646\u0650\u064a\u0652\u062b \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0645\u0652\u062f\u064f\u0648\u0652\u062f\u064e\u0629 <\/strong><em>alif at-ta\u2019niith al-mamduudah<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u0627\u0644\u062a\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0621 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0631\u0652\u0628\u064f\u0648\u0652\u0637\u064e\u0629<\/u><\/strong> <em><u>at-taa\u2019 al-marbuTah<\/u><\/em><u>:<\/u> <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0640\u0629<\/span> \/ <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0629<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is the most common feminine marker in Arabic.
