We will also shed some light on the forms of communication and the basic characteristics of each form.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Definition: <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Rogers<\/strong><\/span>, &#8221; communication is the process of transmitting ideas, information and attitudes from the source to the receiver for the purpose of influencing with intent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Kar<\/span><\/strong> also defines communication as &#8220;all those planned or unplanned processes through which one person influences behaviour of others.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So, the concept of communication simply relies on four <strong>components<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a01) The sender \/ speaker \/ source \/ encoder\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2) The message<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3) The receiver \/ decoder<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 4) The feedback or the appropriate response to the message.<\/p>\n<p>If the feedback is positive, then the sender is sure that the intended effect of the message was achieved. If the feedback is negative, then the sender realizes that the intended effect of the message was not achieved and misunderstanding is likely to arise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #993366\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Forms of Communication<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0There are various classifications of communication forms. Basically, we can distinguish between two main forms of communication:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a01- <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Verbal Communication <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u0627\u0644\u062a\u0648\u0627\u0635\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0641\u0638\u064a<\/span><\/span> :<\/strong> which includes ;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>Oral<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>Communication ; such as talking to oneself dialogue discussion between two people, telephone calls.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0b) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>Visual<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>Communication ; such as maps, graphic, traffic signals, advertisements \u2026.etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0c) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>Written<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>Communication ; such as memos, letters, reports, papers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 d) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>Electronic<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>; which is communication facilitated by an interface with a computer, modem,\u00a0telephone fax, E-mail \u2026..etc.<\/p>\n<p>2- <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Non-verbal Communication <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u0627\u0644\u062a\u0648\u0627\u0635\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u063a\u064a\u0631 \u0644\u0641\u0638\u0649\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">\u00a0<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Non-verbal communication is a fundamental human interaction where speech alone is unable to deal with it. It is communication that can occur without words at all.<\/p>\n<p>* The sender has at least four main sets of physical non-verbal cues; face, eyes, body and voice.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a)\u00a0The <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>face<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>includes frowning, smiling and grimacing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 b)\u00a0The <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>eyes<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>can signal by direction of gaze.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 c)\u00a0The <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>body<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>offers postures, position of arms and legs and distancing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0d)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>Voice<\/em><\/strong> <\/span>includes tone and speech rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>* The receiver has five primary senses; vision, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. There are five functional categories of non-verbal communication:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 a) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><em>Emblems movements<\/em><\/span>; they are substituted for words.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 b)<em><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"> Illustrators movements<\/span><\/em>; that accompany speech and accent.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 c) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><em>Regulators movements<\/em><\/span>; that maintain or signal a change in speaking and listening roles.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 d) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><em>Adaptors movements <\/em><\/span>related to individual need or emotional state.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 e) <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><em>Effect movements <\/em><\/span>particularly the facial expressions showing emotions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #993366\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Kinds of Non-Verbal Language<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Facial Expression<\/strong><\/span>: In general, a smile, a scowl or a frown has a universal meaning. A frown may be dislike or disapproval or puzzlement. A smile maybe love, happiness, amusement or kindness.<\/p>\n<p>2) <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Eye Contact<\/strong><\/span>: There are a number of messages communicated by glances, such as : involvement, hostility, command and others.<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Posture<\/strong><\/span>: The more the person leans towards the individual he is talking to, the more positively he feels about the person and vice versa.<\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Voice<\/strong><\/span>: Voice variations may convey anger, fear, grief \u2026.etc.<\/p>\n<p>5)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Apparel<\/strong><\/span>: The way we dress communicates something about us. All of us wear uniforms such as work clothes, play clothes, formal dress \u2026 etc. Our dress reflects our respect for those whom we visit or go out with.<\/p>\n<p>6)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Colour<\/strong><\/span>: Warm colours \u2013 such as yellow, orange and red- stimulate creativity and make people feel outgoing and responsive to others. Cool colours encourage meditation and also may discourage conversation.<\/p>\n<p>7) <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Odor<\/strong><\/span>: odors have a profound ability to recall memories out of one&#8217;s past. Food smells remind a person of his mother&#8217;s cooking, flowers of spring time \u2026etc.<\/p>\n<p>8)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Time<\/strong><\/span>: People have a unique culture clock. In Egypt for example, you can be half an hour late for a party or a business appointment.<\/p>\n<p>9)\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Language of Space<\/strong><\/span>: Every person seems to develop a distance at which he prefers to interact with others.
