(\u0627\u0644\u0639\u0642\u064a\u0642\u0629)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just got back from Jordan and Turkey where I spent the holiday with family and friends. I had just become a mother in August, and we wanted everyone to see the new <strong>grandchild<\/strong> <strong>\u062d\u0641\u064a\u062f<\/strong>. During our stay, my mother and father in law decided they wanted to perform \u201c<strong>Aqiqah<\/strong>\u201d <strong>\u0639\u0642\u064a\u0642\u0629<\/strong> that is to<strong> sacrifice<\/strong> <strong>\u064a\u0636\u062d\u064a<\/strong> a <strong>sheep<\/strong> <strong>\u062e\u0631\u0648\u0641<\/strong> on behalf of the <strong>newborn<\/strong> <strong>\u0645\u0648\u0644\u0648\u062f<\/strong>. You may be familiar with the Islamic tradition of sacrificing a sheep for <strong>Eid al-Adha <\/strong><strong>\u0639\u064a\u062f \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0636\u062d\u0649<\/strong>, but I thought to share with you another <strong>occasion<\/strong> <strong>\u0645\u0646\u0627\u0633\u0628\u0629<\/strong> where a sheep is sacrificed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aqiqah<\/strong>, an Islamic terminology, is defined as the animal (most commonly a sheep) that is slaughtered on the occasion of a child\u2019s birth as a means of expressing <strong>gratitude<\/strong> <strong>\u0634\u064f\u0643\u0631<\/strong> to God for the <strong>blessing<\/strong> <strong>\u0646\u0639\u0645\u0629<\/strong> of having that child. Performing Aqiqah goes all the way back to the time of the prophet Muhammad. Both then and now, the birth of a child is a cause for great celebration and what better way to celebrate than over a big lamb dinner with family and friends!
