It\u2019s actually pretty easy and kind of similar to what we do in English.\u00a0?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16605\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter post-item__attachment\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16605\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16605\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/arabic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/02\/comparative-350x197.png\" alt=\"the comparison in Arabic\" width=\"350\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/arabic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/02\/comparative-350x197.png 350w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/arabic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/02\/comparative-768x431.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/arabic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2019\/02\/comparative-1024x575.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16605\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image provided by Yasmine K.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Let\u2019s start with <span style=\"color: #800000\"><em>simple adjectives<\/em><\/span> such as big <strong>\u0643\u064e\u0628\u064a\u0631<\/strong>, short <strong>\u0642\u064e\u0635\u064a\u0631<\/strong>, and fast <strong>\u0633\u064e\u0631\u064a\u0639<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In English you would add an \u201c-er\u201d to the end and get bigger, shorter, faster, etc. In Arabic, the root letters of a simple adjective are put into the pattern<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong> (\u0623\u0641\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0644)<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in two simple steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add \u201calif\u201d to the beginning.<\/li>\n<li>Replace the \u201cyaa\u2019\u201d with a \u201cFetHa\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>\u0643\u064e\u0628\u064a\u0631<\/strong><\/span><strong> &#8212;&#8211; <\/strong><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>\u0623\u0643\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0631<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>\u0642\u064e\u0635\u064a\u0631<\/strong><\/span><strong> &#8212;&#8211; <\/strong><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>\u0623\u0642\u0652\u0635\u064e\u0631<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>\u0633\u064e\u0631\u064a\u0639<\/strong><\/span><strong> &#8212;&#8211; <\/strong><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>\u0623\u0633\u0652\u0631\u064e\u0639<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000\">Two important notes:<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If an adjective ends with a \u201c<strong>\u0648<\/strong>\u201d or a \u201c<strong>\u064a<\/strong>\u201d, it turns into an \u201c<strong>\u0649<\/strong>\u201d \u201calif maqsuura\u201d for example the words <strong>\u063a\u0627\u0644\u064a<\/strong> <strong>expensive<\/strong> and <strong>sweet<\/strong> <strong>\u062d\u0644\u0648<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>\u063a\u0627\u0644\u064a<\/strong><\/span><strong>&#8212;- <\/strong><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>\u0623\u063a\u0644\u0649<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>\u062d\u0644\u0648<\/strong> <\/span><strong>&#8212;&#8211; <\/strong><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>\u0623\u062d\u0644\u0649<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For long adjectives that do not follow the same pattern as above such as <strong>respectful<\/strong> <strong>\u0645\u064f\u062d\u062a\u064e\u0631\u0645<\/strong> and <strong>different<\/strong> <strong>\u0645\u064f\u062e\u062a\u064e\u0644\u0650\u0641<\/strong>, we add \u201c<strong>more<\/strong>\u201d \u201c<strong>\u0623\u0643\u062b\u0631<\/strong>\u201d or \u201c<strong>less<\/strong>\u201d \u201c<strong>\u0623\u0642\u0644<\/strong>\u201d as we do in English to make it more respectable or less different. In Arabic though, there is one tiny extra step.
