He and his parents moved to California when he was six years old. He was raised in Tiburon in the san Francisco Bay area. He attended Redwood High School in Larkspur where he caught the acting bug after portraying the lead in his eighth grade production of &#8220;Li&#8217;l Abner&#8221;. He studied theatre throughout high school. Jobrani went on to study Political Science and Italian at UC Berkeley, where he received a B.A. degree. He was enrolled in a Ph.D. program at UCLA, but decided to drop out of it to pursue his childhood dream of acting and performing comedy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Jobrani is best known as a founding member of the Axis of Evil comedy tour, which featured some of the top Middle Eastern-American comics in the world. Maz followed up his Axis of Evil Tour with his own solo tour titled &#8220;Maz Jobrani; Brown and Friendly&#8221;, which again took him all over the world including the US, Canada, Europe, The Middle East and Australia. The &#8220;Brown and Friendly&#8221; Comedy Special premiered on Showtime in the Fall of 2009 and is now on DVD.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Maz Jobrani ( Iran calls America)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q4FVFhHKMWw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In movies, Jobrani starred in the role of\u00a0 &#8220;Moly&#8221; in Ice Cube&#8217;s &#8220;Friday After Next&#8221;. He also played Secret Service Agent &#8220;Mo&#8221; in the Sydney Pollack thriller &#8220;The Interpreter&#8221;, opposite Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman as well as Jennifer Gamer&#8217;s colleague, Glenn, in &#8220;13 Going on 30&#8221;. In television, he most recently guest starred on FOX&#8217;s &#8220;Traffic Light&#8221; and NBC&#8217;s &#8220;Perfect Couples&#8221;. In 2010, he shot a pilot directed by Barry Sonnenfeld for ABC called &#8220;Funny in Farsi&#8221; and recurred on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;Better off Tedd&#8221;. He has been a regular on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;Nights of Prosperity&#8221; as well as FOX&#8217;s &#8220;Life on a Stick&#8221;. He has also Guest Starred on &#8220;Curb Your Enthusiasm&#8221;, &#8220;The West Wing&#8221;, &#8220;24&#8221; , &#8220;NYPD Blue&#8221;, &#8220;ER&#8221; and much more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Maz Jobrani - Happy Birthday Dance\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uSGfd2MIJH8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In 2008, Jobrani sold a TV show to CBS based on his life as an Iranian-American in the United States. The show was best described as a Middle Eastern &#8220;Everybody Loves Raymond&#8221;. He is also preparing to shoot a film titled &#8220;Jimmy Vistvood: Amerikan Hero&#8221; \u2013 a cross between a Middle Eastern &#8220;Pink Panther&#8221; and &#8220;Bend it Like Bekham&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Jobrani has done standup on &#8220;The Tonight Show with John Leno&#8221;, &#8220;The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson&#8221;, &#8220;Lopez Tonight&#8221; and England paramount 2 Network. He is also a recurring panelist on NPR&#8217;s &#8220;Wait Wait don&#8217;t tell Me&#8221; and has his own podcast with two other comedians called &#8220;Minivan Men&#8221;. He is married to an Indian-American woman; an Attorney and they reside in California.
