As always, let\u2019s look at various words beginning with (<strong>\u064a<\/strong>) along with more culture\/language related facts.<\/p>\n<h3>Let\u2019s begin with looking at your basic forms of the letter <strong>\u064a<\/strong>.<\/h3>\n<p>Initial <strong>\u064a\u0640<\/strong>\u200e, as in the word \u201c<strong>\u064a\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0645<\/strong>\u201d meaning \u201cday\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Medial <strong>\u0640\u064a\u0640<\/strong>\u200e\u200d, as in the word \u201c<strong>\u0639\u064a\u0652\u062f<\/strong>\u201d meaning \u201cEid\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Final <strong>\u0640\u064a<\/strong>\u200e, as in the word \u201c<strong>\u0630\u064e\u0643\u064a<\/strong>\u201d meaning \u201csmart\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that the letter <strong>\u064a<\/strong> can either be a vowel when it makes a long \u201cee\u201d sound as in the word <strong>\u0639\u0644\u064a<\/strong>, or a consonant when it makes the \u201cya\u201d sound as in the word <strong>\u064a\u064e\u0648\u0652\u0645<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Before looking at the following words, can you think of words beginning with <strong>\u064a<\/strong>?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u064a\u064e\u062c\u0650\u0628<\/strong>: must\u00a0 .<strong>\u064a\u064e\u062c\u0650\u0628 \u0623\u0646 \u0623\u0642\u0648\u0644 \u0623\u0646 \u0647\u0630\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0637\u064e\u0639\u0627\u0645 \u0644\u0630\u064a\u0630 \u062c\u062f\u0627\u064b<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I must say that this food is very delicious!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u064a\u064e\u0645\u064a\u0646<\/strong>: right (opposite of left)\u00a0 <strong>\u064a\u064e\u0633\u0627\u0631<\/strong>: left<\/p>\n<p><strong>.\u0627\u062a\u062c\u0647 \u064a\u064e\u0645\u064a\u0646\u0627\u064b \u062b\u064f\u0645 \u0627\u062a\u062c\u0647 \u064a\u064e\u0633\u0627\u0631\u0627\u064b<\/strong>\u00a0 Turn right then turn left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u064a\u064e\u062f\u0651<\/strong>: hand\u00a0 \u00a0<strong>\u0647\u064e\u0644 \u063a\u064e\u0633\u0644\u062a \u064a\u064e\u062f\u064a\u0643\u061f\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Did you wash your hands?<\/p>\n<h3>\u2728 \u064a\u0627: O\/oh\/hey<\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u064a\u0627<\/strong> is a vocative particle, similar to &#8220;O&#8221; in English yet used much more frequently in Arabic without sounding a bit strange or archaic as it may sound in English. <strong>\u064a\u0627<\/strong> is used to address someone or a people. In some contexts, a close equivalent to modern day English is &#8220;Hey&#8221; when calling out to someone, for example, <strong>\u064a\u0627 \u0639\u0644\u064a <\/strong>\u201cHey Ali\u201d. You will find that <strong>\u064a\u0627<\/strong> is used more frequently in Modern Standard Arabic than it is in colloquial Arabic.
