His pictures still hang in <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0628\u064a\u0648\u062a<\/strong> <strong>homes<\/strong>, <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u062f\u0627\u0631\u0650\u0633<\/strong> <strong>schools<\/strong>, <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0628\u0627\u0646\u064a<\/strong> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u062d\u0643\u0648\u0645\u064a\u0629<\/strong> <strong>government<\/strong> <strong>buildings<\/strong>, <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0642\u0627\u0639\u0627\u062a<\/strong> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0639\u0627\u0645\u0629<\/strong> <strong>public<\/strong> <strong>halls<\/strong> and even <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0637\u0627\u0639\u0650\u0645<\/strong> <strong>restaurants<\/strong>. <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0634\u0639\u0628<\/strong> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u062f\u0646\u064a<\/strong> <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Jordanian<\/strong> <strong>people<\/strong> like to be reminded of the king they revered so much. In this post, I thought we\u2019d learn about this important <strong>\u0634\u062e\u0635\u064a\u0629<\/strong> <strong>\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a\u0629<\/strong> <strong>Arab<\/strong> <strong>figure<\/strong> and learn some new vocabulary along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Before we head on to the <strong>\u0627\u0644\u062d\u064e\u0642\u0627\u0626\u0650\u0642<\/strong> \u00a0<strong>facts<\/strong>, I thought to share a <strong>\u062a\u064e\u062c\u0631\u064f\u0628\u0629<\/strong> <strong>\u0634\u064e\u062e\u0635\u064a\u0629<\/strong> <strong>personal<\/strong> <strong>experience<\/strong> I had related to the late King Hussein. I moved to <strong>\u0639\u0645\u0627\u0646\u060c \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u062f\u0646<\/strong> <strong>Amman,<\/strong> <strong>Jordan<\/strong> from the US when I was nine years old to live with my grandparents and be immersed in the Arabic language and the <strong>\u0627\u0644\u062b\u0642\u0627\u0641\u0629<\/strong> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u062f\u0646\u064a\u0629<\/strong> \u00a0<strong>Jordanian<\/strong> <strong>culture<\/strong>. It was 1999 and I was beginning fourth grade in a new language. On the day before my birthday, I was sitting in class and <strong>\u0641\u062c\u0623\u0629\u064b<\/strong> <strong>suddenly<\/strong> there was all this <strong>\u0636\u064e\u062c\u0629<\/strong> <strong>commotion<\/strong>, and my teachers were in tears. I did not know what was happening until a fellow student pointed to a photo of King Hussein we had hanging in the classroom and said that he just <strong>\u0645\u0627\u062a<\/strong> <strong>died<\/strong>. I looked at his photo trying to acknowledge the news. We went home early that day and the following morning I woke up on my birthday to watch the king\u2019s <strong>\u062f\u064e\u0641\u0652\u0646<\/strong> <strong>burial<\/strong> on television. He guided his country through the <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0635\u0631\u0627\u0639 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0625\u0633\u0631\u0627\u0626\u064a\u0644\u064a Arab\u2013Israeli conflict<\/strong> and <strong>\u0627\u0644\u062d\u0631\u0628<\/strong> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0628\u0627\u0631\u062f\u0629<\/strong> <strong>the Cold War<\/strong>, transforming the country into a <strong>\u062f\u064e\u0648\u0644\u0629 \u062d\u064e\u062f\u064a\u062b\u0629 \u0645\u064f\u0633\u062a\u064e\u0642\u0650\u0631\u0629 stable modern state<\/strong>. Until his death, he helped further <strong>\u0645\u064f\u0641\u0627\u0648\u0636\u0627\u062a<\/strong> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0633\u0651\u064e\u0644\u0627\u0645<\/strong> <strong>peace<\/strong> <strong>negotiations<\/strong> between Palestinians and Israelis and also worked to <strong>\u062d\u064e\u0644<\/strong> <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0646\u0651\u0650\u0632\u0627\u0639\u0627\u062a<\/strong> <strong>resolve<\/strong> <strong>disputes<\/strong> between Arab states such Iraq and Kuwait.<\/p>\n<p>There is another important reason why he is so <strong>\u0645\u064e\u062d\u0628\u0648\u0628<\/strong> <strong>beloved<\/strong> by many. Have you noticed that Jordan is officially referred to as <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0645\u0644\u064e\u0643\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u062f\u0646\u064a\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0647\u0627\u0634\u0645\u064a\u0629 the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan<\/strong>? Who are <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0647\u0627\u0634\u0645\u064a\u0648\u0646<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>Hashemites<\/strong>? The Hashemite dynasty is the royal family of Jordan who have ruled since 1921. They are considered by many Muslims to be among the \u201c<strong>People of the House,\u201d <\/strong><strong>\u0623\u0647\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0628\u064a\u062a<\/strong> the direct <strong>\u0623\u062d\u0641\u0627\u062f<\/strong> <strong>descendants<\/strong> of the Prophet Muhammad and the traditional guardians of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. <strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0644\u0643 \u062d\u0633\u064a\u0646<\/strong> was a 40th-generation direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0644\u0643 \u062d\u0633\u064a\u0646<\/strong> was the country\u2019s longest reigning leader. He died at the age of 63 from <strong>\u0633\u064e\u0631\u064e\u0637\u0627\u0646<\/strong> <strong>cancer<\/strong> on 7 February 1999.
