This post focuses on an issue with a particular vocabulary word that many Arabic learners might face. It\u2019s to do with the Arabic equivalent of \u201cplease\u201d when making requests. A literal translation of \u201cplease\u201d is \u0623\u0631\u062c\u0648\u0643<\/strong> \u00a0but that\u2019s not what you should use when making requests! Find out more in this post.<\/p>\n

The first thing you need to know about making requests in a polite way in Arabic is that:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

* \u0623\u0631\u062c\u0648\u0643<\/strong> \u00a0should not be used to mean please, in everyday context. <\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Because it’s usually used to ask for help or rather beg (when one is very desperate)!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

*Consider the following example where \u0623\u0631\u062c\u0648\u0643 is used in the right context, i.e. when one is in dire need for help.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a situation where one is asking a stranger to help him or do him a favour that he is not really obliged to do.<\/em><\/p>\n
