Knowing how to say at least one of these phrases will mean so much to the person and his\/her family. In this post, we will get familiar with these phrases and their meanings. We will also talk about what takes place at the <\/span><b>funeral \u0627\u0644\u062c\u0646\u0627\u0632\u0629<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and afterwards during <\/span><b>the three days of mourning \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0632\u0627\u0621<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. You never know, you may be visiting an Arab country and find yourself going to a funeral where you\u2019ll want to know what to expect, how to behave and what to say.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h2><b>The Funeral \u0627\u0644\u062c\u0646\u0627\u0632\u0629<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Religion \u0627\u0644\u062f\u064a\u0646<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> plays a big role in forming today&#8217;s funeral practices. But first, how do people know someone has passed away? <\/span><b>The deceased\u2019s family \u0639\u0627\u0626\u0644\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u062a\u0648\u0641\u064a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> will first make phone calls to relatives and friends. <\/span><b>Announcements \u0627\u0644\u0625\u0639\u0644\u0627\u0646\u0627\u062a <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">are also made in mosques, in the local newspaper, on the radio, and of course by word of mouth. The deceased is then taken to the mosque for the funeral. At <\/span><b>the cemetery \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0642\u0628\u0631\u0629<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the body is lowered into <\/span><b>the grave\u0627\u0644\u0642\u0628\u0631<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and laid on the right side facing the direction of the holy Kabbah in Mecca. The clergyman then says a prayer for <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u062a\u0648\u0641\u0649\/\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0631\u062d\u0648\u0645<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with all attendees ending the prayer with a resounding <\/span><b>\u0622\u0645\u064a\u0646 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c<\/span><b>Amen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201d.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h2><b>The Three Days of Mourning \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0632\u0627\u0621<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After the <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u062c\u0646\u0627\u0632\u0629<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, for three consecutive days, families of <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0631\u062d\u0648\u0645 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">open their homes to receive guests who wish to offer their <\/span><b>condolences \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0639\u0627\u0632\u064a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Two places are prepared to receive these guests, one for the <\/span><b>men \u0627\u0644\u0631\u062c\u0627\u0644<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and one for the <\/span><b>women \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0633\u0627\u0621<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In some cases when there are too many people to fit in a house, the family rents a tent and chairs to accommodate the people. It is considered a symbol of mourning in Islamic culture as well to wear <\/span><b>black \u0623\u0633\u0648\u062f <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">or dark colors.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a guest, upon arriving, you will be received by one of the deceased relatives with a word of welcome which in turn, you give your <\/span><b>\u062a\u0639\u0627\u0632\u064a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Once you sit down, you\u2019ll be given a cup of Arabic coffee. It is customary to greet those who are sitting beside you. During these three days, prayers are recited for the soul of <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0631\u062d\u0648\u0645<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. A meal or two is served by the family along with continuous coffee and water rounds. <\/span><b>Dates \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0645\u0631 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">may also be served. Some families slaughter a sheep and distribute the meat to the poor in the name of <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0631\u062d\u0648\u0645<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The purpose of these three days of mourning is not only to pay respects and pray for the departed&#8217;s soul, but to also take care of the departed&#8217;s family. Relatives, neighbors, and friends consider it their <\/span><b>moral duty \u0648\u0627\u062c\u0628 \u0623\u062e\u0644\u0627\u0642\u064a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to help with the preparations, meals and of course helping them cope emotionally during this difficult period.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even after the mourning period, the family does not celebrate the first <\/span><b>Eid \u0639\u064a\u062f<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that comes after <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u062c\u0646\u0627\u0632\u0629<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Relative\u2019s weddings are also postponed for a while out of respect for the mourning family.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h2><strong>Condolences \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0639\u0627\u0632\u064a<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Let\u2019s begin with what we can say about <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0631\u062d\u0648\u0645 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">that\u2019s an equivalent to \u201cGod rest his soul.\u201d or \u201cGod have mercy on his soul.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We can say<\/span> <b>\u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u064a\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> if the deceased is male and <\/span><b>\u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u064a\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647\u0627<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> if female which means \u201cMay God have mercy on him\/her.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A phrase commonly used from the Quran is:<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right\"><b>\u0627\u0646\u0627 \u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0648\u0627\u0646\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0631\u0627\u062c\u0639\u0648\u0646\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meaning, \u201cTo God we belong and to Him we shall return.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are also phrases to say directed to the deceased\u2019s family and friends.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right\"><b>.\u0627\u0644\u0628\u0642\u064a\u0629 \u0641\u064a \u062d\u064a\u0627\u062a\u0643<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meaning, \u201cMay the remainder be lived in your life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right\"><b>.\u0639\u0638\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0623\u062c\u0631\u0643\u0645\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meaning, &#8220;May God increase your reward.\u201d [for suffering such a loss]<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remember, these phrases can be said to the person who informs you of someone\u2019s passing either verbally or as a reply to say, a Facebook post.
