I just spent a month back home in Amman, Jordan<\/strong> \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u062f\u0646<\/strong> to visit family and had a wonderful time. Why is it called the Dead Sea?<\/span><\/h3>\n

It’s technically a salt “lake<\/strong>” \u0628\u062d\u064a\u0631\u0629<\/strong> bordered by Jordan<\/strong> \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u062f\u0646<\/strong> to the east and Israel \u0625\u0633\u0631\u0627\u0626\u064a\u0644<\/strong> and the West Bank \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0641\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u063a\u0631\u0628\u064a\u0629<\/strong> to the west.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

It’s called the “dead” sea because living things like fish \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0633\u0645\u0627\u0643<\/strong> and plants \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0628\u0627\u062a\u0627\u062a<\/strong> cannot survive in the lake’s high salinity \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0644\u0648\u062d\u0629 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0627\u0644\u064a\u0629<\/strong>. This high salinity also allows you to float<\/strong> \u0627\u0644\u0637\u0641\u0648<\/strong>. I honestly cannot swim, which is another reason why I enjoy \u0627\u0644\u0628\u062d\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064a\u062a<\/strong>. There’s also the health and skin benefits \u0641\u0648\u0627\u0626\u062f \u0635\u062d\u064a\u0629 \u0644\u0644\u0628\u0634\u0631\u0629<\/strong> from exposure to the salt water and mud \u0627\u0644\u0637\u064a\u0646<\/strong>.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Another fact making it a cool place is that it is the lowest point on earth \u0623\u062e\u0641\u0636 \u0646\u0642\u0637\u0629 \u0639\u0644\u0649 \u0648\u062c\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u0636<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Sadly over the years, the Dead Sea has been receding \u064a\u0646\u062d\u0633\u0631<\/strong> by about a meter every year. Is the Dead Sea dying? Or rather, will it disappear from the geographical map of this world? These are at least the predictions of scientific studies that indicate that this sea is retreating to the point that it will completely disappear from the map by 2050. The reasons vary between draining water during projects which extract salts on its sides or projects to divert its main tributaries for irrigation and drinking purposes, such as the Jordan River, which carries water from the Sea of \u200b\u200bGalilee. This sea is located at the lowest point in the world, equivalent to 400 meters below the standard sea level, and is considered one of the most saline water bodies, about eight times the salinity of the major oceans, which made it devoid of marine life and earned it the nickname of the Dead Sea.<\/span><\/p>\n
