These letters can be used in a number of formations or patterns to make derivations or words that are related in meaning to the root, e.g. (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0643\u0627\u062a\u0628<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">)\u201cwriter\u201d, (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628\u0629<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201cwriting\u201d, (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201cbook\u201d, (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0645\u0643\u062a\u0628\u0629<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201clibrary\u201d, (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0645\u0643\u062a\u0628<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201coffice\u201d, etc. The relationship between the root and the pattern is systematic. For most three lettered verbs, the doer of the action follows the pattern (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0641\u0627\u0639\u0644<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">), e.g. (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0643\u062a\u0628\/ \u0643\u0627\u062a\u0628<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201cwrote\/writer\u201d, (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0639\u0645\u0644\/ \u0639\u0627\u0645\u0644<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201cworked\/worker\u201d, (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u062d\u0643\u0645\/ \u062d\u0627\u0643\u0645<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201cruled\/ruler\u201d, etc. Knowledge of the root system and the patterns is very important for building one\u2019s vocabulary. This knowledge is also important for the use of Arabic dictionaries. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Arabic monolingual dictionaries (Arabic-Arabic) and some bilingual dictionaries like (Arabic-English) for example Hans Wher\u2019s are not like English dictionaries. Words in Arabic dictionaries are listed according to the root of the word. For example, to search of the meaning of the word (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0645\u0643\u062a\u0628\u0629<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">), we do not search under the letter (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0645<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) which is the first letter of the word. We have to find the root of the word which is (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0643 \u062a \u0628<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) and search for the word under (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u0643<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">). Roots are listed alphabetically and all words that come under a certain root are given in the same entry regardless of the first letter in them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Finding out the root of the word is not very easy. It is very important to recognize all the prefixes and suffixes and take them off. Sometimes, there are infixes as well that must be taken out. All the letters that are added to verbs for conjugation must also be removed. The following examples give words and their roots. It should be noted that there are words that have 4-lettered roots, e.g. (<\/span><span dir=\"rtl\" style=\"font-size: 15pt;\">\u062a\u0631\u062c\u0645<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">) \u201ctranslate\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<table class=\"MsoNormalTable\" style=\"margin-left: 6.75pt;
