Subject pronouns (<\/span>\u0636\u0645\u0627\u0626\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0641\u0627\u0639\u0644<\/span>) in Arabic are used to substitute nouns and to refer to them, e.g. (<\/span>\u0627\u0644\u0637\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0645\u062a\u063a\u064a\u0628\u060c \u0647\u0648<\/span> \u0645\u0631\u064a\u0636<\/span>) \u201cthe student is absent; he is ill\u201d. Personal pronouns in Arabic have a lot in common with English pronouns, but have some differences as well. For example, Arabic does not have a pronoun for \u201cit\u201d like English, since all words are marked for gender, we use either he or she to refer to them, e.g.(<\/span>\u0642\u0645\u0631)\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u201cmoon\u201d is masculine and we use (<\/span>\u0647\u0648<\/span>) to refer to it, while (\u00a0<\/span>(<\/span>\u0634\u0645\u0633<\/span> \u201csun\u201d is feminine and we use (<\/span>\u0647\u064a<\/span>) to refer to it. Another difference is related to the dual case, since Arabic recognizes dual as a separate number category, there are dual pronouns to reflect this, namely: (<\/span>\u0647\u0645\u0627<\/span>) they dual and (<\/span>\u0623\u0646\u062a\u0645\u0627<\/span>) you dual.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Possessive pronouns (<\/span>\u0636\u0645\u0627\u0626\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0644\u0643\u064a\u0629<\/span>) in Arabic do not appear as separate words, instead they are marked as suffixes at the end of nouns, e.g. (<\/span>\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628\u064a<\/span><\/span>) \u201cmy book\u201d and (<\/span>\u0643\u062a\u0627\u0628\u0647<\/span><\/span>) \u201chis book\u201d. The last letter of the word, i.e. the suffix is the possessive pronouns. Dual should be observed when using possessive pronouns as well.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Object pronouns (<\/span>\u0636\u0645\u0627\u0626\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0641\u0639\u0648\u0644<\/span>) appear as suffixes at the end of verbs. They refer to the object (affected party) of the verb, e.g. (<\/span>\u0633\u0627\u0639\u062f\u0646\u064a<\/span><\/span><\/span>) \u201che helped me\u201d (\u0642\u0627\u0628\u0644\u062a\u0647\u0645<\/span><\/span><\/span>) \u201cI met them\u201d. There is a great deal of overlap between the forms of possessive and object pronouns, i.e. the same suffixes are used for most pronouns except my and me who appear differently.
